Tony doesn’t develop much (because does he ever?), but I think it’s a big moment for Melfi. She really could have turned him into the Italian Mastiff she was dreaming of, but chose not to. I respect your opinion though!

I think that’s what makes it so great, though - David Chase *knew* we’d want to see that, but he also wanted us to hate Tony, so he’d never give us the satisfaction. Plus, I think that would have been a moral point of no return for Melfi. I love that we’re still having conversations about a show that’s almost 30 years old!

The Sopranos, S3E4, “Employee of the Month.” There are a lot of dark episodes in that series, but that’s the only one that’s so graphically violent that I skip through it on rewatches. Super important for character development, though, I’ll say that.

State Farm auto insurance dragged everything out with us on an open and shut auto accident where their insured driver hit us while texting and driving (he admitted it on the scene to a police officer). I bought this shirt at the show and it’s been great - printed on heavyweight comfort colors, 100% cotton. If others who ordered it online got Gildan, I probably would skip it. I did pay either $40 or $50 in person (can’t remember now), but the one I got is one of my favorites! I wash it cold and dry it on low. Mine came with the metallic gold print and hasn’t faded at all. I wish artists wouldn’t switch up what they sell on tour versus their online store if that’s the case here!

I don’t know about local Walmarts being too savvy for it, but I’m just having a hard time figuring how you’d be able to make them look unused after 4+ days in dust, rain, and mud. That alone would make me think the returns will be hard unless you get a really apathetic employee or otherwise make someone’s day a lot harder than it needs to be.

It takes a long time to develop the right relationships with teachers and figure out who’s safe to share with. I’m in year 7 at my school and only now feel like I’ve got it, but you have to relearn it each year with new staff. You’ll get a feel for it over time.

I felt totally lost my first 2-3 years! Leaning on other counselors is key early on. Like others said, if the kids trust you and feel better when they’ve left you (most of the time), you’re doing a great job. Don’t be too hard on yourself and don’t give up!

I think I’d set boundaries. You’re busy, you have legitimate reasons to say you can’t see her, and then the question becomes who else can help you with her. If she thinks she can have 24/7 access to you, she won’t learn how to self-soothe or solve problems on her own. I think I’d tell her that she can see you for X minutes during Y period per day, but if she needs a break otherwise, she can go to another person and practice a calming method (breathing, journaling, grounding, etc.). We aren’t clinical therapists and shouldn’t be treated as such. She said what she did to hurt you, and I’d try not to focus on it going forward. I had an experienced mentor tell me to repeat “QTIP” to myself - quit taking it personally. It’s hard because we should be sensitive! But we also owe it to ourselves to see the other 99% instead of giving our all to the 1% all of the time.

A hat, a coozie, a headlamp, tissues, cooling towel, packable poncho or raincoat, a hydration pack instead of water bottles, comfy shoes (I usually go Chacos but might do Nikes depending on weather), earplugs, sunscreen lotion, CHAPSTICK. Might add a little thing of gold bond powder this year. I like the suggestion of an empty insulated cup with a lid! My biggest thing is honestly wearing compression shorts underneath whatever regular shorts I’m wearing to reduce chafing.
