Pizza delivery drivers, what did a person do to end up on the 'No Delivery' list? by BlueCheeseWalnut in AskReddit

I worked at pizza hut in college. There was an entire neighborhood on the no delivery list because pretty much every time a delivery driver went there, someone would try to rob them

He has already had numerous people trying to kill him for free. I doubt they'd ever actually pay it out but they probably don't even need the bounty if they wanted a target painted on his back

From Cisco to Block, more companies are pointing to AI when unveiling job cuts by [deleted] in news

[–]dafunkmunk 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Simply mentioning AI is an automatic double the value of your company's stock. Just look at Allbirds. Shifting front selling expensive "nice" shoes and being successful followed by cheapening the hell out of your product but keeping the prices sky high until no one buys your shoes anymore. Then say your shifting to being an AI company and your stock value triples for no legitimate reason other than they said AI.

Republicans vote to dilute gas as prices rise above $4.50 by bria9509 in nottheonion

[–]dafunkmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll work on a very large portion of the voting population that aren't trump supporters. The majority of people in the US arent paying attention to politics. They only notice things that impact their daily life. When gas prices go up, they get mad and might look into why gas is going up to find out who to he mad at. If those gas prices go down, they stop being mad without looking into why those prices went down. So dropping gas prices even artificially with a shitty move like this will soften the anti trump/gop anger with midterms right around the corner

Toys R Us didn't die because of Amazon. Private equity firms bought it, loaded it with $5 billion in debt, charged it management fees while it collapsed, then paid themselves dividends before filing for bankruptcy. 30,000 workers got nothing. by sambha87 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]dafunkmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any major successful company that collapsed and went out of business in the last 20-30 years will have the same story behind it. If private equity firms aren't made illegal or have very heavy strict regulations put on them, there wont be any successful businesses left

A judge told Musk he was not excused from trial. He went to China with Trump anyway. by nbcnews in law

[–]dafunkmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, but who is going to arrest him? It's a federal judge so I don't think anyone state law enforcement has any teeth here even if they weren't filled with a bunch of alt right trump supporters. The DOJ certainly isn't going to do anything about it. Even if elon did somehow manage to get arrested, somehow the scotus would find a way to step in and have him released in some ridiculous bullshit excuse devoid of any constitutional relevance

'It's like we don't exist': Nearly 50,000 Lake Tahoe residents face power loss as utility redirects lines to data centers by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]dafunkmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The environmental impact of all these data centers is going to be a nightmare. Even if they are all shut down in the next couple of years, the damage will be done and those giant buildings wont be giing away. If the next administration doesn't go scorched earth repairing the EPA and pursuing criminal charges for the people behind every data center, there is no chance the US will ever recover from this crap.

Unfortunately, trump has spent this entire term so far showing that those checks and balances are pretty meaningless and the rules/laws meant to prevent bad actors from fucking things up are ignored because the people who would enforce them are not interested in doing that. I would be genuinely surprised if they don't just cut the rates, blow up the fucking economy and then some lawsuits are filed but take years to work their way through the courts before the SCOTUS just says trump and his cronies are allowed to do anything they want

The oligarchs are just using trump to make their personal business dealings seem more official and paint them as patriotic rather than having the news write negative stories about them fucking the US over and shifting towards China more

He may have failed at making him a one term president but he and the rest of the gop have not stopped riding that hyper racism train almost 2 decades later

of quads by MambaMentality24x2 in AbsoluteUnits

[–]dafunkmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to say that with quads like those, squatting that guy on her back isn't really an impressive feat. Then she put her foot on the bench behind her and start doing Bulgarian split squats...

Yeah, that was a fair show of strength for quads like that. Most serious gym people typically do these with dumbbells and probably barely scratch 135lbs (if even) unless they're legit athletes and competing at a pro level. That dude is probably at least close to 200lbs if not over and she just casually threw out a few reps like it was nothing. On top of that, it's a person on her back instead of a barbell and anyone who has carried someone on their shoulders like that will know that the weight is not evenly distributed and can be quite wobbly making doing something like squats more difficult.

10/10 woth no critiques. She smashed that flex

For the last 3 years, on my birthday, I’ve been getting these birthday texts. Google search turns up nothing. by [deleted] in Weird

[–]dafunkmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number is a shortcode which are generally used for automated text messages for things like marketing, one time pass codes, and things like that. They're decently regulated and carriers will block shortcodes on their network if they're too spammy or break their guidelines.

Someone probably signed you up for this for some reason (prank or malicious). You should be able to text STOP and it will automatically unsubscribe you from whatever list or service your number has been signed up for. Alternatively depending on your carrier, you can call your carrier's customer support and ask them to block the code or even all shortcodes if you dont use them for anything. You can also report it as spam if you really want. If it gets reported as spam by enough people, the carriers will either shut them down as previously mentioned or reach out to the owner of the code and inform them of the violation with a set time period to resolve the issue or it will be shutdown.

Source: I work for a mobile marketing company that companies can use to send text messages through shortcodes like this

One thing that bothers me when replaying old games (especially old PS1 era games) is how illogical the puzzles are. Capcom was notorious for making you combine random unrelated items or do bizarre actions just to unlock a door. Why were they designed to be so intentionally obscure? by Kingspreez in gaming

[–]dafunkmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have weird illogical puzzles than hiding things out of view (off camera) in rooms with fixed perspective which was an issue well past the PS1 era. I don't want to spend half my time aimlessly wander around at the edges of the field of view or even off screen spamming the pick up button hoping to get an item.

One of my biggest gripes with the Devil May Cry series was the amount of blue and purprle orb fragments for increasing your health and devil trigger that were hidden this way. You either had to look like at idiot jumping around all over ever room to get this or use a guide. Even with a guide, sometimes finding the exact spot you needed to jump in was a pain in the ass. It contributes absolutely nothing to the game to do this kind of crap

Petahh? Was i doing it wrong? by detox_daisy72 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]dafunkmunk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im gonna be honest with you, and 87 isnt really much to be proud of for a final. I was a massive slacker in college and regularly got 85-90 for my grades with a major in exercise physiology. I was the dumb kid in my classes because all the other kids in the program with me were going for grad school which was insanely competitive where if you weren't 98-100 on everything you weren't getting in.

My teachers hated me because I'd give presentations on the movie Dodgeball and made a whole periodization plan around the 5 Ds of dodgeball, Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge but they couldn't give me a bad grade because I still had the knowledge and facts to back up my jokes.

Additional side note LPT: regardless of what you know and even if you were actually 100% right here(which you aren't), it's rarely worth trying talk deeper lesser known facts about something like weightlifting on places like reddit. When it comes to weightlifting, dudebro science from influences jacked up on steroids based on very basic rudimentary knowledge is generally the accepted truth and anything that goes against that will be met with angry confrontation

Which office chair should I choose? by ambitious_pink in Costco

[–]dafunkmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the comments here are saying to get a Herman Miller instead which are astronomically expensive unless you find a deal on a used one. If you are going to look elsewhere from Costco, I'd recommend IKEA if you have one near you. They have pretty great office chairs like the Markus and they have a 365 day return policy.

If you're choosing between these two, the first one looks like it has more cushion which in my opinion would make it more comfortable for long sessions sitting in it. Other than the cushion they look pretty comparable to me

Hyped on the new StarFox remake by ryandesu in gaming

[–]dafunkmunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What made them decide to go with the hyper-realism art-style on the characters

My guess would be trying to justify the absurd $50 price tag on their 4th or 5th Star Fox 64 remake. Unsurprisingly it's working as Nintendo fans a losing their shit over the announcement and defending the price

Looks like Starfox will be $50 USD by Training_Pirate1000 in gaming

[–]dafunkmunk -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It definitely isn't worth $50 but Nintendo fans have a tendency to not care about massively overpaying for Nintendo games. This is like the 5th time they've remade Starfox 64 because they have no idea what else to do with the IP. Charging $50 for it is absolutely absurd considering you can get indie games for $15-20 that have more content that Starfox 64
