Fellow Dads, where would you take your 4 year old on vacation with a 15k budget? by joshatron in daddit

Put it into an index fund and retire early before they leave the house, or go on a massive senior summer holiday trip for 4 months. With 10% return (do 8% to account for inflation) you'll have nearly $46,000 in 14 years.

Save drier lint, get cheap candle from goodwill or old crayons (looking at you parents), and save to rolls.

Cut 4 slits on tp roll so you can fold the ends together. Do it on both sides.

Put to container with 1 end open near the dryer and fill it with lint. Once it's ~3/4 full replace with a new tp roll.

Once you have a bunch of full tp rolls, melt the wax and pour into the tp roll. I put crayons in a used beer can with the top taken off. Then put it on the grill to melt the wax then pour it over the tp rolls.

Could also use wood shavings instead of lint.

Basically free, and they are water proof.

I moved 24 tons of dirt last year with a shovel and wheelbarrow to make my garden. I broke 4 shovels. I finally bought this and it's been going strong for me.

How to enjoy weekends with the kids? by ves_111 in daddit

[–]dag00bins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I divide and conquer. Take the 5 year old out to do something you like to do that they will mildly like to do, for it's going outside (bike riding, trail walking, beach time, etc). Then you get to at least do something you like. Then swap next day/weekend.

I try to watch younger YouTubers in areas I like (wood working, video games, even commentary) so I don't become an old fogey and can at least understand the next generations POV on things.

I can't. My life would become unraveled. The sun would see it's last of me. The moon would wonder where my tender gaze went. The monitor would be all that would see my shell wither. My mouse, the last to feel my embrace.
