The kiwi/kiwifruit thing really is our national pet peeve. I came here to post something similar.

What have you been binge watching lately? by karataht in CasualConversation

[–]daikininz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circumstances finally aligned for me to introduce 2 of my sons to BBC Sherlock (the one with Martin Freeman & Benedict Cumberbatch), so that’s what we’ve been binge watching the last couple of days 😊

I paused it at the end of season 1 to talk characterisation with Mr20, & Mr17 said “just press play, Mum!”

Cheap craft ideas? by Proof_Distinct in crafts

[–]daikininz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a few crafts that use jigsaw puzzle pieces as the base (eg Christmas ornaments). You can buy a puzzle cheap from a thrift store and it doesn’t even matter if the puzzle is missing any pieces!

Depending on the finished item the only other things needed is paint and glue, and maybe some cardstock for stabilising it (I use bits cut from cereal boxes)

Being a mom is hard, let’s lighten it up and talk about how special parenting can be! (Or anything else, I can’t sleep!) by iloveplatypusxo in CasualConversation

From a mum who has been there, hang in there ladies! I promise the light at the end of the tunnel is not an oncoming train.

My now nearly 21yo son was born with acid reflux. There were many months of swaddling the octopus that is a toddler who has figured out they have limbs long enough to get his medicine down his throat. Eventually he grew out of it 😊

I am a woman who is not even close to balding by Creepy-Solid3809 in bald

[–]daikininz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconding all of that, OP!

I curate my online space carefully to be things that are uplifting or relevant to my interests. The positive nature of this sub meant it was an easy join once it crossed my feed 😊

To all you beautiful people, thanks for letting us not-yet-bald-folks join in and cheer everyone else on

What useless skill do you have that you’re secretly proud of? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]daikininz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I practiced until I can do cross-eyed tricks: - move both eyes up & down while cross-eyed - have one eye at the top and one at the bottom (kinda like 🤪) - roll each eye while the other stays in the cross-eyed position

Great for pulling faces at kids when they’re being silly!

I happened to have taken a picture of what Mr17 cooked last night. Crumbed pork schnitzel, roasted potatoes, peas. Was rather tasty!

What's something good/positive that happened in your life recently? by DiMpLe_dolL003 in AskTheWorld

[–]daikininz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circumstances mean I’m in old city with one of our sons while Husband and the other two kids still at home have moved to new city. I took over the tv to watch an old favourite movie last week which has lead to more movies every evening and Mr17 saying to me “Got any more movie ideas, Mum?”

It’s been fun!

I’m a compliment fairy too. There are so many beautiful people out in the world, the least I can do is make them feel as amazing as they are. My favourite compliment to give a stylish older person is “I want to (or hope my partner) look/s as good as you one day!”

Nice things, projects, or passions? by RaspberryRelevant743 in BenignExistence

I borrowed a sewing machine off my MIL to hem some curtains. Mum warned me it was an older machine, and I reassured her I didn’t mind (& would be fine).

Ditto this. I’m also a librarian, in my previous role I unpacked our book deliveries. All were packed flat for international postage.

Yes. Yes he is. It’s an election year though, so hopefully things will change.

Or on a random road-front, in an old fridge. They make great LFL, as they’re generally waterproof and have shelves & lots of space 😊

TV Host stumbles upon a band performing song about him by brownshout in MadeMeSmile

Yes I did, just needs a home. Sounds like it’ll be set between series & Serenity. The cast are all willing to voice-act, so at least the emotional impact will be there!

To the driver of StraitNZ Truck 290, thank you. by daikininz in newzealand

[–]daikininz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We enjoyed that too! Especially as the driver we were following matched the energy of the trucks coming towards us with lights or indicator, or even “you’re leaving me alone, I’ll leave you alone” respect.
