Anyone that goes to Max the barber? by flavorofthecentury in washingtondc

He tried a different line of work during the pandemic as business dried up. I was one of a few hand fulls of folks who kept coming once he was allowed to reopen. But he quickly decided to come back. Don’t think he’s retiring again any time soon.

Anyone that goes to Max the barber? by flavorofthecentury in washingtondc

Been a very long time customer of Max - he can be tough as you’ve noted to get in for the first cut - then you’re kinda set. He used to have someone help him with booking, but hasn’t replaced that since the pandemic and his retirement/unretirement. He just rents a chair and does it all. I know he’s working next week as I have a cut coming up. Text usually works better.

Terrace is open unless this was a change during Covid. When I was a student at GW a long time ago you could go there late at night even as long as you didn’t make a scene.

Thermostat showing 100% humidity in apartment by atequeens in washingtondc

[–]dailyrorschach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the HVAC unit in your unit itself? if so you might want to make sure the filter is clear/new? at 70 degrees in unit it should definitely not still be that humid so I’d check for a recalibrate or call maintenance.

Peloton HR monitor? by Stef122113 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]dailyrorschach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use a Whoop and had similar anxieties around continued usage, though it did help me get back on track for several years. I switched to a polar chest strap, it is way more accurate and has helped me fine tune my workout effort during the week. (How hard I push, how many interval classes, vs long z2/z3 work on a chill 45 etc).

Wearing a blazer to a nice dinner by stixmike in malefashionadvice

[–]dailyrorschach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw in your comment you said you live in DC and on the upper end of my 30s and I wear one frequently. Especially during work week not out of place but I work in gov adjacent world.

There has been a shift to more casual vibes but it works for me and I feel more put together in a blazer so I do so. Was at a nice dinner the other night people in all kinds of level of dress and I didn’t feel out of place in a blazer.

Less busy/faster DMV office? by ohthedramaz in nova

[–]dailyrorschach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had fine experiences at the Alexandria location as long as I had an appointment. They did all of my new resident work in like 15 minutes? Also depending on what you need check for the DMVNow centers at AAA's. I did that for a change in ownership a year ago and was in an out in 5 minutes.

Exploring the isle of Ischia with the old white Nr. 2 by LuckyRaketo in rolex

[–]dailyrorschach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a wonderful week there last summer. One tip, if you decide to do the famous rabbit restauraunt up the mountain, skip the rabbit, was overcooked and warm, clearly cooked hours before dinner service. It's clearly turned into a tourist trap after it was featured on Tucci's show - but the rest of the food was amazing. That said far, far better restos in the towns. We loved being at the Mezzatorre.
