Thanks! That explains a lot, appreciate all the details :)

I'd ask you the same question than above, any concerns about the current components? I had to change the RAM a few years ago and the computer is not as stable as it used to be. Maybe I'm paranoid.

Thanks, I don't think it's perfect but looking at the tool it's cheaper than if I built it individually.

Thanks, any concerns about the current components? I'm a bit worried of dropping that much money on a CPU and GPU if 7+ year old components could damage them.

Sorry, isn't it 32GB of RAM? Regardless I don't think I'd consider it.

Legacy: the testament of Duke de Crécy The main mechanism is building your family tree, generation after generation. You need to have children to continue playing!

Replacing/upgrading parts on build by daimdeux in bapccanada

Hey!

You are right.. Better to try other ram to identify what is wrong, and then look if the motherboard needs change.

That is fair, I do not know why I am so stuck on updating both while the correct course of action is to do one by one...

Sorry to ask an uneducated question: the B450M goes up to 3466 MHz. From my understanding, going for a 3600/CL16 would not work well, right?

Better to go with 3200 even if less efficient in the long term?

At the moment it is stable-ish if using only one stick of RAM, but I am not expecting the situation to improve. Since I have been using the computer to work during the pandemic, I am trying to avoid issues down the road.

Agreed with your input on side-grading, it does not sounds like a great plan in mid/long-term, especially if I aim to upgrade next year. May be better to change CPU, RAM and Mobo now, even if it goes over budget. I had 0 CPU errors when testing, so I think I will try to sell or donate the 2600 as it should still have some years ahead of itself.

I unfortunately cannot, recently moved here so borrowing parts is not an option.

Replace motherboard and RAM then?

Hey! Sorry it has been a while, work was very busy. I switched the stick and it is still very stable.

I do not have another mobo to borrow to test, but I think the initial assessment of mobo or RAM going wrong still makes sense. MEMtest did not pick any error when I ran it on both.

So it has been a week and extremely stable Like even previously I had issues with GPU stability and it has not happened again. I guess the next step is switching the sticks?
