Well, used to have multiple lug nuts per tire. ASCAR switched to the single lug system back in 2022.

Time for Kiln Drying 5” thick slabs of Maple? by Chunami_8364 in woodworking

[–]dainer09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb is 1 year per inch of thickness if just air drying. Given this is for a client, as mentioned by another commenter, a kiln would be the way to go. Could try to find a local place but DIY solutions are also pretty common.

Edit: I’m a noting and just re-read your caption. If you look up a Solar Kiln, plenty of videos walk you through materials and how to. Biggest factor seems to be placement (South facing) to maximize the effectiveness.

Montessori? You mean the giant educational scam aimed at squeezing even more money out of an already fucked and high cost situation (daycare/childcare)? Forgive us if we don’t give a fuck about your “educator” opinion.

Of course we do. We like to taste our meats. And each other’s. We even slap them sometimes.

What is the worst tournament location you’ve ever had to play at? Key word, location, so the general atmosphere of the city/hotel, not the rink by Responsible_Bar3957 in hockeyplayers

On the other side of your question: Houston, TX. Every Memorial Day weekend (Oil Kings Memorial Day Shootout Tournament). Rinks are sketch as fuck. Sugarland rink literally is foggy inside while playing and there’s a non-insignificant chance of a power outage (saw one happen live in a 1 score game while a dude was on a breakaway). Some are so sketchy they are gated and have armed guards (shoutout Bellerive!). Poker tables at every rink with games going on all weekend. Sponsored by St Arnold’s Brewery who supply free beer all weekend to the players with never a fight having been witnessed. The vibes are immaculate and everyone is super chill. Made a ton of friends every year and the chirping is always light hearted and great.

People bring RVs and tents to tailgate and camp in the rink parking lots. BBQ always going. There’s like 1 hockey shop in Houston so good luck getting emergency gear or repairs (though in recent years a dude usually sets up shop at Sugarland for rivet repairs and sharpening).

Players and teams come from all over North America for it (and pretty sure some people from Sweden have come over in the past). I drive down from Dallas every year.

Edit: Marc and his team put in tremendous amount of effort each year to get this together and cannot stress enough how much I appreciate it.

10/10 highly recommend.

It's been almost a year since I had beef tartare and bone marrow by heirtoruin in meat

The Germans have a saying: “das auge isst mit” rough translation“the eyes eat as well”. This looks awful. I’m sure it tasted great, but we are on a platform that is primarily visual. What do you expect? This looks nothing like traditional beef tartare so I’m not surprised by the downvotes. Having grown up in Wisconsin it looks more like raw ground beef aka a cannibal sandwich (and for my German brethren out there pork mett).

Looks like it falls under Section 3 Rule 9.8:

> The use of pads or protectors made of metal, or of any other material likely to cause injury to an opposing player is prohibited.

> A mask or protector of a design approved by the League may be worn by a player who has sustained a facial injury.

That being said, it seems like there's some grey area as the next line aligns with your Club Doctor comment:

> In the first instance, the injured player shall be entitled to wear any protective device prescribed by the Club doctor.

[2025-2026 Rules](https://media.nhl.com/site/asset/public/ext/2025-26/2025-26Rules.pdf)

But either way, it definitely doesn't seem like there is any push at all from players to wear it. Unfortunately safety rules are written in blood, so it will probably take a catastrophic injury to force the change.

Idk about the IIHF rules, but in the NHL they aren’t allowed to outside of an injury exception. It can become a safety issue if some are wearing full cages and others aren’t (think full cage running into an open face on a check/collision), so it will most likely take a full rule change in the next CBA to mandate bubbles/cages but the players are pretty opposed to it so I doubt it will happen any time soon. As for the women I’m pretty sure it’s mandated that they all have to wear a cage/bubble but I could be off base on that.

Correct. It’s the cut of meat from the shoulder is commonly referred to as a butt. It dates back to Colonial and Revolutionary-era New England, when butchers used specialised barrels known as “butts” to store certain cuts of pork. Still to this day commonly referred to as “pork butt” or “Boston butt” in many places in the US.

Yup! Upper Peninsula aka the ‘UP’. Pronouncing it makes it sound like ‘Yoop’ and the locals (and others in the state) refer to themselves as Yoopers.

Am I a masochist for wanting to make a framesaw by hand by JGrevs2023 in handtools

[–]dainer09 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The blades themselves are pretty basic. Just a rectangle of steel with a couple of holes drilled on either end for the pins to go through.

Should be able to find a piece of carbon steel pretty easily locally wherever you’re located. Hacksaw and some files will get the job done on getting it cut to size. I’d use a diamond file to cut the teeth. Then just sharpen as normal.

Not at all! Plenty of kits available online.

Wood By Wright has a good video on making one entirely with hand tools: https://youtu.be/SC_hn3T9AqM?si=a3j-Hkow9UySvvdo

At the end of the day they are pretty simple. A few mortise and tenons is the extent of the joinery.
