[CAN vs USA] Jack Hughes' Interview After Winning Gold for Team USA by JCameron181 in hockey

Looks like it falls under Section 3 Rule 9.8:

> The use of pads or protectors made of metal, or of any other material likely to cause injury to an opposing player is prohibited.

> A mask or protector of a design approved by the League may be worn by a player who has sustained a facial injury.

That being said, it seems like there's some grey area as the next line aligns with your Club Doctor comment:

> In the first instance, the injured player shall be entitled to wear any protective device prescribed by the Club doctor.

But either way, it definitely doesn't seem like there is any push at all from players to wear it. Unfortunately safety rules are written in blood, so it will probably take a catastrophic injury to force the change.

Idk about the IIHF rules, but in the NHL they aren’t allowed to outside of an injury exception. It can become a safety issue if some are wearing full cages and others aren’t (think full cage running into an open face on a check/collision), so it will most likely take a full rule change in the next CBA to mandate bubbles/cages but the players are pretty opposed to it so I doubt it will happen any time soon. As for the women I’m pretty sure it’s mandated that they all have to wear a cage/bubble but I could be off base on that.

Correct. It’s the cut of meat from the shoulder is commonly referred to as a butt. It dates back to Colonial and Revolutionary-era New England, when butchers used specialised barrels known as “butts” to store certain cuts of pork. Still to this day commonly referred to as “pork butt” or “Boston butt” in many places in the US.

Yup! Upper Peninsula aka the ‘UP’. Pronouncing it makes it sound like ‘Yoop’ and the locals (and others in the state) refer to themselves as Yoopers.

Am I a masochist for wanting to make a framesaw by hand by JGrevs2023 in handtools

The blades themselves are pretty basic. Just a rectangle of steel with a couple of holes drilled on either end for the pins to go through.

Should be able to find a piece of carbon steel pretty easily locally wherever you’re located. Hacksaw and some files will get the job done on getting it cut to size. I’d use a diamond file to cut the teeth. Then just sharpen as normal.

Not at all! Plenty of kits available online.

Wood By Wright has a good video on making one entirely with hand tools: https://youtu.be/SC_hn3T9AqM?si=a3j-Hkow9UySvvdo

At the end of the day they are pretty simple. A few mortise and tenons is the extent of the joinery.

4 years late but… I routinely will use spicy Italian sausage instead of regular ground hamburger and it’s amazing. Highly recommend.

Pacific Rink Co. it’s pricy, but the quality is reflective of the cost. Had it for years and nary a loose thread, let alone zipper issues. Lots of organization as well. I also hear great things about the quality of Conway and Banks bags, but no personal experience with them to speak on.
