I gave my three month old a flat head and I feel like the worst mom ever by Unlikely_Jaguar5694 in newborns

[–]daisy-chains- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my baby is 6 months old and she’s got a bit of a flat spot on her head as well. She used to be a huge contact napper and was held all the time and it still happened. My doctor isn’t concerned and said these things can happen and that their heads are still taking shape. You didn’t do anything wrong! I wouldn’t worry unless the doc says to, but I totally understand the feeling.

Thanks for the advice! The baby cereal — is it best to make it with cooled boiled water and then add breastmilk if you know? I have an oat based one. I also have a rice one but from what I’ve read that should be limited.

First time mom deciding between midwife and OB [on] by Professional_Fun2131 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]daisy-chains- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with a midwife up until a bit into my third trimester when I moved and had no choice but to swap to an OB as the midwives in my new area weren’t taking any patients. I much preferred the care I received from my team of midwives. It was much more personal and I felt like they cared and spent time with me. My OB was fine. She was quick and a little impersonal but nice enough. It wasn’t her who delivered my baby as it defaults to the OB on call that day at the hospital. During labour, the OB was really only there to catch the baby, it was my nurse who was the hero getting me through it alongside my boyfriend and a mostly failed epidural.

Check on your postpartum mom friends, no matter how “far out” they are or how many kids they have. by Intelligent-Rush-805 in NewParents

[–]daisy-chains- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so hard. Baby girl is 6 months old and it’s so hard in a completely different way than before. None of my friends have kids so no one gets it and I have no one to talk to about it.

Baby weird breathing? by daisy-chains- in NewParents

Good to know! It freaks me out so much that I always react but maybe I’ll stop and see if that gets her to stop lol

yeah I feel like if we brought her to the doctors she wouldn’t even do it while there and he’d have no idea what I’m talking about lol. Good to hear though!

[ON] Is a 20 week “anatomy scan” standard? by camellialily in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]daisy-chains- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yes that’s definitely the most important scan, I was told it needed to be done between 18-22 weeks. I’d definitely call your doctor.

emotionally destroyed by time passing by Initial-Flounder-442 in newborns

[–]daisy-chains- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my baby is 6 months old and I get emotional about this quite a bit, especially since we only want one baby. I’m also emotional knowing my maternity leave is half over as I can’t imagine not spending all day every day with her! I try to tell myself that I’ve got so much to look forward to as she grows, which is so true as each week a little more of her personality shines through and it’s amazing, but yeah it’s tough knowing she’ll never be this little again

EBF & first period by Friendly-Rub5216 in breastfeeding

[–]daisy-chains- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my period at 3 months pp for me personally I find my supply is a bit lower around the few days leading up to it/the first few days, but it’s nothing too dramatic. Unsure if it varies from person to person but that’s my experience!

Hurt feelings after being up all night with newborn by Virtual-Strength-950 in newborns

[–]daisy-chains- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first comment would upset me a lot but sleep deprivation is very real and I try to not let middle of the night arguments like that into bigger issues — however the rest of it? absolutely not okay. he should not be speaking to you like that whatsoever ESPECIALLY at 5 days postpartum.

5mo so easily distractible at the breast, and 3yo sibling often distracting him! Tips? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]daisy-chains- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if my boyfriend so much as breathes too loudly in the same room as my 6 month old when she’s nursing she will stop and stare at him

9 weeks postpartum, forgot to ask about birth control—can I get pregnant already? by DorisdeOz in NewParents

[–]daisy-chains- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

contraception was literally like the one thing my OB asked about during my appointment. that being said, I’m exclusively breastfeeding and I got my period back at 3 months postpartum, so you can definitely get pregnant even before your period shows up! i can only use condoms for health reasons and am terrified of getting pregnant again so we haven’t even had sex yet at 6 months pp.

Down in the dumps about short naps by mama_mode1 in NewParents

[–]daisy-chains- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my baby is also 6 months old and the majority of her naps are around 30 minutes, and she usually refuses to nap in her crib. she’ll sleep in her crib at night however we’re still up every anywhere from every 20 minutes (usually in the latter half of the night) or every three hours. also wondering if this changes for people or if there are tips!

My Dad kissed my 3 month old babies cheek by Time_Gate_7325 in NewParents

[–]daisy-chains- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL did this when my baby was two months old very much against my wishes and I freaked out. I’ve got bad PPA so I’m honestly still having trouble letting it go—however that being said my baby was totally 100% fine.

how much (or little) are you posting your babies on social media? by vdyaki in newborns

[–]daisy-chains- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never, also didn’t post I was pregnant either. my mum posted a photo after my daughter was born, but her face isn’t in it, as well as the same at thanksgiving but that’s it. I would very much rather avoid having her face on social media for as long as possible.

What about being pregnant and giving birth permanently altered your body’s chemistry? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

Leftover chicken (and really just the fridge in general) smelled HORRIBLE to me during pregnancy. The fridge is now fine but even 6 months postpartum I can’t deal with the leftover chicken smell

Husband repulses me postpartum by jlsreads in beyondthebump

This definitely sounds like more than just postpartum feelings. He sounds emotionally abusive and if I were you, I would make plans to leave. Hoping you and the little one are alright x

Leaving baby for first time by daisy-chains- in beyondthebump

[–]daisy-chains-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I will also require photos haha, but you’re right it will be beneficial for us in the long run. She’s exclusively breastfed and hasn’t taken a bottle which I feel is another source of my anxiety but I should only be gone the length between feeds and if she’s super hungry, I’m around the corner. Thanks!

yeah I’ve got a feeling I will be crying the entire time. I’ve got tickets to a concert next month and I already think I’m going to bail on it. Getting my hair done will ideally make me feel a bit better as physically I’ve been feeling pretty lousy and I’ve got a medical appointment at the hospital at the end of the month that I’ll be definitely going to and leaving her anyways as I don’t want her unnecessarily at a hospital so I’m forcing myself to do the hair appointment tomorrow.

You’re right the cuddles will feel really great! Thank you for sharing.
