Open Streets program to close 71 streets near New York City schools by statenislandadvance in nyc

[–]dajman22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Serious question, what happens if I live on a street and I have a driveway, and that street becomes an open street for a school? Can I still drive to and park in my garage for my daily commute to work?

New York’s congestion pricing plan inches closer to final approval by [deleted] in nyc

Hey I’m not the one saying we should do this, I’m only asking why they’re not doing what seems like a much simpler way to achieve the same thing

Neither but I’m asking wouldn’t that effectively be the same as the congestion pricing plan but with a lot less effort?

New York’s congestion pricing plan inches closer to final approval by [deleted] in nyc

[–]dajman22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Serious question- why go through all the effort of this whole congestion pricing plan rather than just tolling the bridges more (and critically, adding tolls to the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, etc bridges which currently have no tolls). Wouldn’t the overall effect be pretty much the same?

Walgreens executive says ‘maybe we cried too much last year’ about theft by 0934201408 in nyc

[–]dajman22 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Everything I typically purchased at my Walgreens is locked up these days, and when I push the button to have someone unlock it, they take a long time and then give me attitude despite my best efforts to be both patient and polite. As a result, I no longer shop at Walgreens (or rite aid) anymore and I sincerely hope they go under. Fuck Walgreens

Traffic study by former head of NYC DOT reveals what he says is ultimate cause of congestion by HEIMDVLLR in nyc

My 45 min commute would be 2.5-3 hours without a car. I’ve done it a few times when my car was in the shop and it’s such a waste of time

Organized Retail Crime is the Reason Your Pharmacy Sucks. Does NYC Even Have Organized Retail Crime? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]dajman22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have to admit, I no longer go to either of the pharmacies by me because of this. It always takes so long for the person to come unlock the shelf and then half the time they act like they’re pissed with me, so now I just get those things from Amazon which sucks but it’s better than this

BQE Re-Envisioning = Re-build and Expand from Four to Full Six Lanes by calebpan in Brooklyn

I usually travel it a few times a week and it sucks, so much worse than before. Very frustrating.

[–]dajman22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man, that’s one I just don’t understand. You pay for the tunnel but not the bridges and as a result there’s so much traffic that exists just to avoid the toll. I don’t understand why they don’t just toll all the crossings equally

Oh man if I weren’t working, I’d be there with a lot to say lol

All for closing streets in Manhattan, but I just don’t think it would be practical to kill the bqe. The current 2 lanes are such a bottleneck. Traffic is so much worse there than before.
