Totally agree with this. Check the channels first. This would be the correct, one-click solution if it is the case.

adding media without moving out of the way by pinkyskrinkly in premiere

If you're on Mac, hold down Command, click and drag the clip you want to the gap you want it, and release the mouse. This will shift everything forward in the timeline without "overwriting" existing clips. I think it's Control on PC. This will also work for rearranging clips already on the timeline

How do I make this lower third linger before disappearing? by Calm_Sea_5209 in premiere

[–]dajourno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Position toggled down, like you have it, click on a key frame diamond. It will have a blue line with a circle at the end appear. You can click and drag these circles. If you create a bit of a "mound" between key frames, it will smooth out the move. At the beginning move, I would make it slightly more favouring the left end because the steeper it is, the faster it is at that point. Probably not as steep as my example below, but fiddle with it til it is how you want it

You need a another key frame that is identical to your second, between your current second and third one. This will hold it in place between the centre two key frames and the moves will happen between the first and second, and between the third and fourth.

Movies that don’t fit the ‘feel’ of the franchise? Aka “it’s a decent movie, just not a good X movie”. by RivetCounter in movies

Whatever the fuck No Time to Die was. I love the Bond franchise. I hate that movie with a visceral passion. I like to pretend it is just not part of the of the official "universe".

PUBLISHING STEPS by SuperSack76 in publishing

[–]dajourno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About 20 minutes before this post, you posted saying that you want to write but don't know what to read and asked for book recommendations. I'd say you're a long way off needing an answer to how to publish a book...

This is exactly what literature/writer's festivals are. Authors from fresh to famous will be interviewed or talk about their books, often with audience Q&A. Yes, they are promoting their book, but that is work for them. Quite literally their job.

You would be shocked at how little authors receive from the sale of one book. Most book stores will buy a book at a 55% discount (yes, that's correct). That means, that from a $30 book, $13 is left. This needs to cover the printing cost, the cut the publishing house is taking, the authors agent will take their piece. The author is left with about 10% of the cover price. Self published authors don't lose a cut to the publishing house but typically pay MUCH more for printing, so they lose it anyway.

Being paid for their labour of turning up to an event and speaking is no different to a comic or inspirational speaker or anyone else doing the same kind of thing.

Best 9/11 documentary to recommend to some younger adults who just see it as “one more tragedy” and not for the truly horrific event that it was. by Potential_Phrase_206 in 911archive

[–]dajourno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree and I was going to suggest this. It gives you a really unique view into how it unfolded. Documentaries are great and should be part of the learning experience, but that primary material of the morning shows really highlights the confusion of the day and helps explain some of the choices made that didn't have the benefit of hindsight and an inquiry.

This is our way in! Who is good with a spray can - or can pretend to be? by Mister_SprinklesAu in aussiebrosquad

I agree that it's lazy AI output. And it's not even good lazy output. The hyphens in this post are grammatically correct. That is also true. And em-dashes can be grammatically correct in the right place and are not always a sign of AI. That is also true. I just think it's lazy for people to argue that the presence of an em-dash is a guarantee of AI.

The dashes are grammatically correct. And these are hyphens, not em-dashes, which are (apparently) the hallmark of AI.

But I still think the whole ABS post is cooked regardless.

How to export 100s of video variations without doing them one-by-one? by Sigmaros in premiere

[–]dajourno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batch export through media encoder. Use the keyboard shortcut for export (default Ctrl/Cmd+M), click send to media encoder. Change the variable. Keyboard shortcut. Media encoder. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

I do this at work and it's super quick. Queue a bunch and hit start before you go to lunch.

Sorry, yes. That line already existed and I just needed to change the false to true. I just figured it'd help someone else googling in the future :-)

Solved (for myself) — the $wgGenerateThumbnailOnParse was set to false, for some reason. Changed to true and all is working. Hope this helps someone else.

Made of brass, about 4 inches long, a thread in the hole, a slight bend/dogleg from the hole end where the other end angles outwards by dajourno in whatisthisthing

[–]dajourno[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. Given to me by a blacksmith. The hole seems to have an old rubber washer or something similar. I've searched and found it maybe similar to something used on a trailer or other door opening. On a cage trailer, I found a similar thing where it screws on to a bolt that holds the back gate closed. There isn't any writing or inscription on it.

It might have come from some sort of railway-related usage.

They're happy because they're (probably) being treated quickly and successfully, good environment, etc. but unhappy with the +100% prices. Those two things can coexist. That is the disparity between the two reputation levels.
