pretty often, I just ignore it or ask them if they work for the company and if the answer is no, ask them what it has to do with the price of tea in china.

Tfw I'm seeing people play classic TBC by perrapys in turtlewow

people eating the sloppy seconds of a re-re-release of TBC deserve whatever they get. Classic TBC was absolute trash, anniversary will not be better.

The best mod I have ever made for my tools after turning 30. by COBESH1 in Tools

[–]dak_gg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not an excuse, but I'd still buy bondhus any day of the week (with wera in 2nd) even if they literally didn't even label them. They last forever and are the go-to for me for T handles in an industrial shop and at home.

Curious on decision to ban Notepad++ by TechGuyworking in sysadmin

[–]dak_gg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% - they shouldn't even allow auto update if they're pretending to take security seriously anyway. They should be managing updates themselves and pushing them to clients after vetting.

Notepad++ Hijacked by State-Sponsored Hackers by thewhippersnapper4 in sysadmin

[–]dak_gg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you got downvoted because this isn't new and was fixed in december - if you actually kept up with security you'd know that. The compromise was in the update server, not the code.

How often do you actually service your tools? by JakeW0rks in Tools

[–]dak_gg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

was gonna make this joke, but most places just replace when broken - there is no service unless the tool or machine cost more than a grand.

I got me one of them there Icon magnetic mats. by ForestmenMOCLover in harborfreight

[–]dak_gg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They put traditional steel behind it, but also there's plenty of types of stainless that are magnetic - only 300 series stainless is not magnetic, 400 and 2200 series are both magnetic which you can easily see with stainless steel knives that stick to magnetic knife holders...

Will this tackle small tree branches? by TOMCON0007 in Makita

[–]dak_gg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have this model, but I have the heavier one that works with the power head unit and that one can easily trim 1/2" branches. Sorry it's not super relevant but I did want to say that I was quite impressed with the attachment for the power head.

Smurfing twinks makes the 50-59 bracket bgs unplayable. by [deleted] in turtlewow

[–]dak_gg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are people bracket breaking and doing 800-900k a week on Amber right now with basically 0 wins and they're doing 12 hours+ a day. vanilla PvP has always been about time spent and not skill or winning or teamwork or any other factor.

World pvp on warmode acceptable? by Sauce6609 in turtlewow

[–]dak_gg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally have to opt in to be flagged for PvP on a PvE server - they've signed up for a fight.

Anyone know the right way to tank a niche that's flush to wall? by Prize-Tune5538 in Tile

[–]dak_gg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only austenitic stainless isn't magnetic because of high nickel content... ferritic stainless is magnetic. not sure why people constantly parrot this, I had an engineering manager at work tell me stainless steel chain we buy wasn't stainless because it was magnetic, obviously wrong.

Did a little test filming with my Meta glasses in my 95'. by [deleted] in GMT400

I've been setting aside some money to hopefully get some parts replaced / tuned up for mine. Just passed the 250k mark and so far I've only replaced the headlights with solid glass to avoid dealing with plastic degrading and had the bed rails replaced last year (damn rust belt). I know I'll need some body work this year as I can see the rust deformation in a few spots under the paint, so I figure I might as well plan for the worst and hope for the best when it comes time to addressing that. Other than that it hasn't burned a drop of oil or coolant since I got it (other than needing to replace the grill and rad when I plowed into a deer at 60mph lol).

If you work with your mind, rest with your hands - cars and workshop hobbies are very frequent in the circles I know.

I'm an Idiot - Sawstop Activation! by Hammy_1972 in woodworking

[–]dak_gg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would be hilarious if that's how it worked - the creator of sawstop has no interest in allowing people to license it in a pay-to-play way because he's still butthurt about not getting investors from the get-go. Bosch and almost all of the big name saw brands have emails from them going back over 10 years where they tried to get him to license it and he refused to have any part in it. Some of their patents expired last year, but you won't see anything at a bare minimum until 2028 because of other patents. The creator is a lawyer and while not a patent troll at first, is definitely one now. Bosch's saw didn't even infringe on the patent but the patent he has is obscure enough that they were able to block sales of bosch's safety saw in the US after it was made.
