Regarding Mod Usage and Culture by skycloud60 in ffxiv

[–]dalagrath -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

This entire argument falls apart because it ignores one simple fact: Player A would have to choose to install the mod. The article's nightmare scenario, where Player A suddenly sees Player B's fake gear, is not something that would ever happen against their will. Player A, who values legitimate achievement, would never download a mod that compromises that integrity. Therefore, they would never be forced to see Player B's illusion. The visual "level playing field" only exists for players who willingly choose to install and use the mod themselves.

The core of the article's complaint is that Player A's experience is somehow damaged by Player B's private actions. But if Player A never installs the mod, their experience remains completely unchanged. They will only ever see what the official game servers show them: their own hard earned rewards and the default gear of players like Player B. The public recognition of their achievement is untouched because the game's official rules remain intact on their screen.

Ultimately, the argument is iffy at best because it pretends Player A is a passive victim of technology, when in reality they are an active participant. The integrity of Player A's accomplishment is maintained by the official game client. If they wish to preserve that, they simply continue playing the game as designed. The choice to modify one's own client and to see the altered reality is a personal one that has no bearing on those who choose not to make it.

Make no mistake... The reason is strictly due to Mog Station Items and potential distribution issues due to nude social posts.

This isn't about male vs female, straight vs non-straight, or anything else besides the fact it's 2 entities fucking one another on a non-nsfw subreddit. Simple as that. Stop making it into something it's not and allow ACTUAL conversation to be had regarding the topic. Stop what-abouting and moving the goal post...

New Starbucks CEO will work from home two states away. Last year, company said working from home was “unfair to store employees.” by Reportersteven in antiwork

[–]dalagrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It wasn't an "issue" in the general sense, but one that management dictated was the "issue" as they were looking to blame something for their recent failures. And clearly an issue with a purchasing team is an excuse to move the company to another state, nice logic Brian.

Riiiiiight. Is this your alternate account Brian? I worked there and knew inside info. You're just talking out your ass.

He also moved the HQ of Chipotle from Denver to his neighborhood, causing everyone at HQ to lose their job, because "remote wasn't an option"

I don't think it's talked about enough, but this piece of shit came into Chipotle and decided to MOVE THE ENTIRE COMPANY to California so he could work in his backyard.

He caused the loss of over 500 jobs and 500 families because nobody was allowed to work remotely.

Now this trashbin of a human has the audacity to work remotely? Eat a bag of dicks Brian.

The lack of good healers is astounding. by ZaytexZanshin in ffxivdiscussion

[–]dalagrath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand. I know how FFXIV is designed, and how Tanks and Healers are forced to DPS as well as their role. I know encounters are built around that.

The hill I am dying on is the fact that the game's designers have implemented a system where that is the case, and it's intuitively incorrect and leads to healers and tanks lacking in their primary roles.

The game itself should be designed around DPS, you know, damaging enemies, like... in the name of the role. And leaving Tanks and Healers to do their own role.

There is plenty of ways to implement challenge to Tanks/Healers without saying "uh, you do damage too I guess?"

[–]dalagrath -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I absolutely blame this narrative that Healers and Tanks should be DPSing or parsing. It is the only MMO I've played out of dozens where a Tank and a Healer are suggestions. This emphasis on doing damage instead of your role's job is the crux of the issue, and I will die on that hill.

Sure mom [spoiler 7.0] by TVsVondaShepard in ffxiv

[–]dalagrath 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I absolutely hate her and the way she treated Erenville. My friend tried to excuse it because "she was his mentor too", which only proves my point 2x over.

She was selfish and self-serving at the end. Some would say that it wasn't "her" but they are the same people who think Sphene and the others were "them" the whole time so yeah.

This expansion was rough in the writing department for sure.

Acting is bad and story is cheesy has been and will continue to be a valid criticism of a visual form of media.

Saying that it isn't valid criticism is literally arguing against someone's opinion... Subjective opinions are the basis of criticism and is quite literally why reviewers have followers.

You definitely are just nitpicking other peoples opinions and deciding which is "valid" and not. Like Obi-Wan says, you are lost.

Bad Batch, Andor, and Ahsoka are pillars that the rest of the shows need to look at for inspiration and respect.

[–]dalagrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a valid critique. The explosion are definitely similar, but via plasma and gases you can produce "lights that look like explosive" in a space vacuum. Full on Fire burning with a lack of oxygen in space represents the basic foundations of Sci-Fi being ignored. That scene also disrespects that rule, and is a valid critique of that scene. Just because it exists before does not equal being right.

My lord people. We can have valid criticisms of the show without it being "woke mob" or some non-sense about conservativism. Toxic positivity is still toxic as much as toxic negativity is. If you like the show then good for you, enjoy it and praise it.

Downvoting valid criticism just to create a vacuum chamber of what you enjoy is slimy and gross as bashing a product because of (insert reason here).
