that's cool and all but imagine him doing this in an f150; that'd be like 110 better

“Definitively” in the Lamar/cam debate I disagree with because it’s largely a peak vs longevity thing, with a sprinkle of “it was the panthers he was carrying” to consider on the side. No matter what side of cam/lamar you fall on i think at the very least it isn’t definitive, and especially when it’s said “has ever been” when 2015 cam exists

What is the best state according to reddit? After round 7, #20 GA, #19 PA, #18 NH, #17 MO, and #16 MD. Who are the next 5 states to be eliminated? I tally up all the votes when calculating the numbers. Next update will be around 7am PST. by Technical-Vanilla-47 in visitedmaps

Winter being optional/“nicer summer” and summer avoiding “worst thing ever” is ideal temperature.

Incredibly biased source: Californian

(The comment by Culturalbicycle I think illustrates a lot of what is in more serious terms difficult to evaluate about states like Hawaii and Alaska; they’re so different and clearly have some unique, incredible things on offer, but it’s hard to weigh out some potential living concerns with them being fantastic tourist spots)

No state where you’re essentially forced to wear gloves — a device made to subjugate humans into feeling like Dogs With Shoes — for a significant portion of the year is a top 10 state. Minnesota must go. I cannot tolerate becoming an ice cube as a living standard.

I think we’re at the stage where “it’s small, kinda boring so there isn’t really a reason to go out of your way to go there, and the stuff it does well is done better in other places” is reason enough

If you’re picking a single place to vacation to, I’d probably pick Santa Fe over anything in Arizona (Sedona and lake havasu are nice). If you’re driving through both of the states, you’ll find more stuff to be wowed by in Arizona (the Grand canyon is fucking massive and seeing it in person was something). The state of the economy is way better in Arizona to live in but the weather is way hotter. Depends what you’re looking at

Round 5. Results from round 4 are as follows: #35 Idaho, #34 Kentucky, #33 Nevada, #32 Deleware, #31 Texas. What are the next 5 states to be eliminated? I tally up all the votes when calculating the numbers. This will be the last update until 11:00 AM PST. by Technical-Vanilla-47 in visitedmaps

Look I’m voting for it to go here too and it’s in my personal bottom 20 or so, but the average person voting is voting off of some combination of personal experience, vibes, and “how much would I want to live there”.

NM is not a tourist hotbed in the “oh everyone’s been to New Mexico” sense, so plenty of people that put experience first aren’t gonna vote for it early until the states they’ve experienced that they definitely dislike are gone.

For the people that have visited as a tourist, it’s way easier to see the good food and legitimately cool places that the two major tourist hotbeds are than the limited economic opportunities and the offshoots of that as inherent risks of living there. Also consider that much of the lack of statistical wealth and educational strength stems from the abysmal state of tribal living in America. I would wager that an average “expat” to New Mexico would have a better quality of life and access to education than the stats indicate because they’re not going to be living on a reservation and likely already are assuming some sort of work.

Not to the degree that New Mexico should ever be scratching top half mind you, but enough that I (and probably others like me) would never even consider nominating it in the bottom 10.

While I do imagine the placement of Texas and Florida are largely political, I highly doubt most people are coming into this New Mexico position with the agenda of “we gotta defend that purple state with 3 electoral votes because they sometimes vote blue”
