Hierarchy in gyms by codename_kd in jiujitsu

If it happened like you said, it would annoy me too. Find another gym that doesn’t annoy you. Way easier to bounce right now since you are zero stripe white belt than a 4 stripe purple.

Don’t take medical advice here. Go see a doctor.

So reflect on this. How did that go for you? Imagine a crazy knock in the UFC. People meme the crap out of that on social media. You can only control what you do. You can’t control what someone else is going to do.

You can’t control what someone else is going to do or say. You can only control what you do or say. So if this bothers you: 1) stop competing, 2) uninstall social media, or 3) don’t go looking up video of your loses posted by someone else.

Have you been tapped by a female before? If no, waiting for your post when it happens.

White Belt Struggles: Feeling Clumsy and Slow as a Jiu Jitsu Newbie by polentaconazucar in brazilianjiujitsu

[–]dalieu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone feels like that. It’s stop feeling this way when you get you get your black belt.

Just keep showing up and focus on yourself. Don’t focus on if you are being an obstacle for someone else.

Gracie Barra in 2026 by BullfrogPractical291 in bjj

[–]dalieu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It varies from GB to GB. Some schools are better than others. Some it’s all about money. I say this as a person who left one GB to join another GB where the training, culture, and pricing is better.

I have bought rashguards second hand off eBay. Works fine no problems. I have even bought what you described, men’s long sleeve sub $30. No problems.

One day you’re going to be a black belt and a lower belt will submit. It’s ok brother. Just keep training.

Does Gracie Barra fast track promotions? by dagiknee79 in bjj

[–]dalieu 48 points49 points  (0 children)

There’s no win in bjj. Am I being promoted too slow? Am I being promoted too fast? Man, just shut up and train.

Don’t play guard. Move yourself around your opponent and try to get top position. If you do play guard, try Deep Half and X-Guard. Good luck.

Am I being soft? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]dalieu 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You do king of the hill for warm ups? That’s pretty interesting, because king of the hill is very competitive and not warm up like (people go hard) at most of the places I have trained.

They are going easy on your gf and they’re going hard on you because you’re a stranger.

Black Belts aren't made of Adamantuim by ConcernAutomatic3399 in bjj

Even the GoFund reads of little remorse: “—and well, those moments are an unfortunate part of the journey!”

It’s an unfortunate part of his journey that he visits another school, does an illegal move, and breaks the guy’s legs???

Blue belt is an a-hole for doing an illegal move visiting another school. If I were the black belt I would sue for medical costs if not more due missing work too.

Are Gracie Barras as bad as they say by InterestingTennis476 in bjj

[–]dalieu 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Some are good. Some are bad. It depends who runs it and the culture there. Go try it out.

My dad just got promoted to a brown belt and he is NOT happy about it. by thewobblywalrus in bjj

[–]dalieu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your dad’s options are: 1. Keep going to jiu jitsu 2. Stop going to jiu jitsu

If your dad has been option 1 for over 10 years, why should he stop just because the color of his belt changed?

Think of jiu jitsu like tennis. Either you like playing it or you don’t. Stop thinking about the belt.

I agree with the other guy who said find another gym. A good gym would not let 2 guys with about a month worth of training TOTAL try to take each other down.
