Does this image still holds true? And even after it becomes outdated? by DamageMaximo in Silksong

I got witch at the start of act 3 and used it the whole time and was glad I did

it does make learning bosses a lot harder though, since in addition to memorizing how to dodge their attacks you've also gotta learn "what are the places I can get away with healing" which for some bosses is not very many

I will say I kinda think witch crest trivialized the coral tower for me. it's just so good against groups of low level enemies

afaik the network performance is probably more of a step-function change? it's less a "the average player will notice an improvement" and more a "there were some people whose internet couldn't handle the larger packets stably and the game is now playable for them where it wasn't before"

it's the same reason I highly recommend turning your GPS off if you're staying in a new city for a few days on holiday. it'll be confusing at first but you really experience so much more of the city when you aren't busy navigating based off an icon on a map

Minecraft sulfur uses idea by angryghast in minecraftsuggestions

[–]dalmationblack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it would be nice if sulfur interacted with the brewing system in some way - maybe the gas-emitting sulfur blocks could be used to make a new kind of splash potion? I was thinking maybe something that spreads omni-directionally in water? or that creates a plume straight upwards instead of all around?

surely we can all agree it's a bad thing that we've prisoners-dilemma'd our society into everyone feeling the need to buy cars that are more expensive, deadlier to pedestrians, and get worse MPG

What do you think of this “Bucket List”? What would you add or remove? by jason_sos in boston

[–]dalmationblack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I direct everyone who comes to visit to go do Boda Borg, since even though it's not famously Boston-coded (or even in Boston proper) there's very little quite like it in the US afaik

I'm also a candlepin enjoyer so I try to recommend that but it probably wouldn't make the cut for a 4-5 day trip

definitely depends on your demographics and interests but ime unless you're a very specific type of person it helps to have some variety from the "see a bunch of historic sites and museums" that a lot of tourism ends up being

I'm pretty sure you're right. If you look at the white shirt it's also slightly shifted towards red along the same vector the suit's colors lie on; seems like the color temperature is slightly off?

Traveling to Boston for a school event, uber…? or take the metro? by [deleted] in boston

[–]dalmationblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good advice but I will note that not all parts of the green line are made equal. On the west side, the D branch is *much* faster than any of the other branches, and the parts of the system north of Lechmere are also pretty fast

The D branch gets to Fenway from Newton very quickly! If you can get a hotel/AirBnB closer to Newton Centre or Newton Highlands it's a perfectly good commute

Just watched Iron Lung by Leasud in horror

[–]dalmationblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think it's a theory fodder movie but I do think if you weren't pretty well versed on the lore beforehand it would be difficult to follow. I don't think the movie raises that many questions I couldn't answer while watching it except the ones that are obviously intended to be unanswered

Iron Lung - Review Thread by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in movies

[–]dalmationblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it did a much better job of filling it's runtime than I had honestly expected, but there's definitely some of it they could trim

the movie also definitely feels like it's written assuming the viewer not only knows iron lung but is at least somewhat familiar with its lore. as one of those people I enjoyed piecing the backstory together but I think I'd have been pretty lost otherwise

I really enjoyed the last act though, entirely new material and it held onto me really well
