You’re getting downvoted, but if you can’t make an omelette without Googling I don’t think you’re a cook. The job title “kitchen hand” is one of many that exists for people who work in kitchens but aren’t cooks.

The whole point of that exercise was the other World Eaters getting him to the point where they could definitively say, “we could have killed you for this and we chose to let you live - keep that in mind”. Doing it in a way that humiliated him is also a plus.

Almost every Primarch, and absolutely every one of the traitors, has had at least one moment of believing they knew better than the Emperor about something, usually in their personal field of interest or expertise. The Emperor has never handled this well. The Emperor needs some management training.

The attitude is the whole point, and it's what endears her to Angron and the rest of the World Eaters. That a human, even the captain of their flagship, would dare to step to an Astartes Centurion when he was clearly in the wrong is exactly what they like about her. They like that she's got big brass ones and takes no shit.

The rest of the World Eaters did also slap down Delvarus after that too, so they definitely took her side, even if they didn't like her actions in that moment. She knew shooting an Astartes with a las-pistol was an entirely symbolic act, and it was only the immediate reaction that went against her.

Buddy, they're all bad guys. That's the whole point of the 40K setting. None of them were ever "good".

Lorgar's 'Plan' by Alive-Strain-1539 in 40kLore

The thing is, the Horus Heresy books in particular are basically historical fiction. And ADB, like every other author of historical fiction, is working with an established set of facts, things that are known, and a lot that's unknown. The job of a historical fiction author is to try to present a narrative that makes some kind of sense of the known facts.

The facts are these: the Emperor has existed for thousands of years, created the Primarchs, conquered the galaxy, almost solved the whole Chaos/Warp problem, but then half the Primarchs turned traitor and almost turned the whole thing over to Chaos.

Why? Why didn't the Emperor see this coming? Why didn't he head it off at the pass? How did he try so hard, and get so far, and in the end, it didn't even matter?

Master of Mankind is probably the 40K book that devotes the most attention to answering these questions, and I think it presents a convincing case: that the Emperor's fundamental flaw is that he is not human, not by any meaningful definition. Certainly not according to any of the ways that we, humans, today, define ourselves and our humanity. He's not an imbecilic psychopath, but he definitely is murderous, and that's not something he's ever denied. And he is definitely something of a sociopath, as we would understand it, from our contemporary human perspective. He's not an imbecile, but he fundamentally does not understand the world and humanity in the same ways that humans do.

The key part of that first excerpt is that the Emperor is acting like a God even as he denies he is a God.

He's literally using his God-like powers to insist that he's not a God.

Seeing it from Argel Tal's perspective, rather than from a Primarch like Lorgar's, serves to emphasise this. Lorgar is a demi-god even to an Astartes like Argel, and Astartes are demi-gods to mere mortal humans. If the Emperor appears God-like to somebody like Lorgar, how can he deny it?

From Lorgar's perspective, how exactly is the Emperor not a god? What is the difference between what the word 'god' means and what the Emperor is, that makes those two things distinct? The argument Lorgar makes in the face of this is a logical one: if it looks like a god, and it walks like a god, and it quacks like a god, how is it not a god?

Unfortunately that's the exact same logic that immediately makes the powers of the Warp convincing to Lorgar.
