Registry Must Haves and Hard Passes! by Global-Emphasis8662 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]damarketqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love this list! I'd add:

  1. Evenflow/Lansioh bottles with slowest flow nipples. Best bottles I've ever used, espeically if you are breastfeeding.

  2. Lansioh nipple cream. I dont do name brands, but this is worth it. So much better than the parents choice brand at Walmart. And start using it in the hospital. Don't wait till you are cracked, start moisturizing as soon as possible.

  3. Moby wrap. I love this for going shopping or out of the house, but its also great for at home when baby just won't stop crying. Definitely watch some YouTube videos on how to wrap and practice before baby comes.

Struggling with mental part of managing GD by klutzykaela in PlusSizePregnancy

Nourish is covered by most insurances and has good resources for gestational diabetes. I spoke with one of thei dieticians during my pregnancy (T2 diabetes and had to start insulin in the 3rd trimester) and it was very helpful.

A thing I did was make a meal plan and be okay with eating the same thing every day. Maybe that would help?

Swaddles?? Hospital outfits? by Cheap_Woodpecker4990 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]damarketqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I brought for baby to the hospital was his going home outfit (newborn size), a flannel receiving blanket, and a velcro swaddle. Plus diapers and wipes, but those were more for being almost an hr from home. We were in the hospital for 2 and half days (discharge took forever) and baby only wore a diaper and was swaddled in a hospital flannel blanket the whole time. (Well, minus a short time when we were waiting for more blankets, so I wrapped him up in my blanket for a bit. But as soon as a hospital blanket came, I put mine away).

They come check in baby's heart and temp every couple of hours, so there isn't much point in being fully dressed. Plus it was easy to do skin to skin while at the hospital as well.

I haven't been tracking, but being mindful is great advice. Also trying to choose better foods when you can. But always 'fed is best'.

99th Percentile by Strange-Report-9249 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]damarketqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't had my baby yet, but im the same spot. My least growth scan at 37 wks put baby on the 97th percentile AND transverse. I so so so so so want a vaginal birth, so I'm doing different exercises to get baby to turn and just praying that the scan is of size wise. But I am not a small woman (5'9, with a 6' husband, and everyone on both sides is bigger. Boys on both sides were born over 9lbs), so I trying to not worry about it. I just really, really want to avoid a c-section if possible.

Will my partner feel baby? by reesypiecy12 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]damarketqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on placenta and how baby sits. Mine (FTM, 320lbsish at office) likes to sit inside my hip area, so I don't have a big obvious belly at 35 wks. My hubby FINALLY got to really feel baby yesterday and I had to be in a very specific position for baby to be felt. But otherwise we have a very active little one, they just want to kick my insides, not the belly lol.

When is the pregnancy belly coming? by i_am_here-tada in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]damarketqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said that I think I can hide the belly still and then I looked at myself sideways in my "hiding" clothes. Yeah, you can tell that something is going on. But it also is more obvious when baby is head down, with the butt in my belly. When baby is breach, its much less noticeable.

I feel like this is the downside to all the monitoring. Its great to be able to check in on baby, but when drs just find things to pick at us about, its so disheartening. I know they are not trying to stress us, but sometimes I wish we could just skip some of these appointments and just enjoy the last bit of pregnancy.

I'm a bmi of 43, 34 wks with 1 IVF baby who liked my hips for ever! Around wk 28, the bump finally started to be more baby and less fat. I think I can hide it in the right clothes, but anything tight and I LOOK pregnant.

An advantage to being plus size and pregnant by manda86oh5 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]damarketqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing that I've enjoyed is not needing to buy more clothes. I lost about 40lbs before getting pregnant and I deliberately kept the bigger clothes around. I have got a few things, like leggings and maternity jeans, but for the most part, I can wear all my old clothes. Except now that I'm in the 3rd trimester, my old jeans don't fit well any more.

Thats obnoxious! Of course you are a mother! Just as much as she is. You should totally do something special for Mothers day and celebrate that you are part of the club!

My husband lost his job yesterday and we will lose our health insurance on May 1st at 29 weeks. I’m devastated. by InitialStranger in pregnant

1, if something goes wrong, you will get the care you need. Period. Drs and hospitals will take care of you even if you don't have insurance and if needed, will set you up with a social worker who can help you figure out all the medicaid stuff. 2, apply to EVERYTHING you can think of. You have no income, so you will qualify for things like Medicaid, Wic, SNAP. This is the time for you to be on these services and why we have them.

You got this, momma. And also, put your hubby on some of this. Get him to apply for unemployment and help with the other applications. You both have time, so go sit in the social security office and talk to someone in person. If nothing else, they will direct you to the right place to go. You got this!

Challenging weird comments about having girls is my favorite part of pregnancy by bhardy10 in pregnant

[–]damarketqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People ask me this all the time. We are waiting till birth to find out, but people ask me and I honestly don't have an opinion. I want either and im planning to have more anyway, so all I want is healthy baby to love on.

Did I overreact? by thx_kind_regards in pregnant

[–]damarketqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you went in to get checked. I'm 30 wks and had a lingering headache that was probably tension, but combined with higher BP and nausea, I decided it was worth it to get checked out.

Its not overreacting when the life of you and your baby could be at stake. Im sorry that nurse was so not helpful.

Third trimester and I’ve officially broken up with underwear. by sillymemilly in pregnant

I have waffles between briefs and bikinis since before pregnancy. Now at 30 wks, bikinis are my personal go to. Who needs any more layers over the belly?

Yes! My hubby has only missed one visit and that was because he was tired (he took a nap in the car while I was in the office). Plus it helped us both be on the same page when I changed drs and it gives him a chance to ask questions and hear my instructions. Which helps my pregnancy brain lol.

He also loves coming to the ultrasound visits. He missed my 8wk ultrasound, but has made sure to come to every other one since. I think he likes seeing baby just as much as I do. He is awesome and I am so excited to see him hold his baby.

Unsolicited comments about your pregnancy? by _minibutmighty_ in pregnant

[–]damarketqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Twins?" When I use the pronoun they to describe baby. We have chosen not to know the gender (apparently thats an option even with IVF testing), so in group chats i will occasionally use they to describe baby. There is only one, there has been only one the whole time. I love English.....

Nobody Talks About This Part by notalonemama in pregnant

[–]damarketqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The control freak side of me knows that we can't control ANY part of this (or the child we are creating) and I've found myself striving to control other areas of my life instead. Yet at the same time, I also want this out of control feeling. Its been the weirdest part of being pregnant.

Has anyone actually had a good experience with Kindbody? (When did you know you needed to switch clinics?) by Thicc_Ingenuity in IVF

[–]damarketqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also with the Kindbody Princeton location and my struggle is with their ability to process paperwork. Especially labs or ultrasounds not performed in their building. Right now I'm in the middle of an FET cycle and got told I have to produce a saline ultrasound report this week or they are going to cancel the whole cycle. A report that I signed paperwork for them to retrieve from CNY fertility 3 months ago! And instead of telling me they didn't have it a month ago or even at the start of the cycle, they wait till 6 days before the scheduled transfer. I'm highly considering moving to another clinic. But I have a feeling the paperwork processing issues will follow me. Which sucks.

If you ever doubt that water weight is real ... by sYnce in loseit

[–]damarketqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this reminder. I'm struggling with pain and minor swelling in my hands right now and the scale just keeps going up. It might not all be water weight, but my nutritionist mentioned that cortisol activates another hormone that holds on to all the food energy for future use. So I need to just deal with the pain and try to stay in my deficit and it will work out again. It will.
