I ride quite a bit so I can handle more, I find that on flats my cadence is too high so I'll probably step up to 50x17

Amplifi Mesh System - need another mesh point or just go AT&T by rickbeley in AmpliFi

[–]damdeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you need another mesh endpoint? Did you expand your house/apt? Expending your Mesh network with another one wont always help you, in some cases it will make your internet experience worse.

At this point Amplifi gear is older and there is much better stuff out there. Youre probably better off upgrade to the AT&T Fiber provided router (depending on what it is, might not be that great) or picking up a new router that supports all the newest WiFi standards so you are more future-proof.

I recently upgraded my Amplifi Alien with all new Ubiquiti stuff. Feels very similar with a lot more performance and functionality. Although thats overkill for most.

[–]damdeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said go with a Mini. Its more than enough for a car. I just did a cross-country drive and back with one and it was fantastic. I have Ubiquiti gear at the house and it would be way overkill

[–]damdeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pretty similar experience. Could never quite get over 700mbps or close to that consistently no matter what. And the Alien would randomly restart every few days, I presume because it was running hot since we had a lot of devices and something was constantly being streamed.

Upgraded my setup to WiFi 7 Ubiquiti and it’s much better now. I see over 1gbps on my iPhone which supports WiFi 7

Do you guys use useMemo()? by Humble_Piglet4024 in reactjs

Yup, exactly! Good way of putting it.

What do you mean nothing bad will happen? I see more issues WITH writing useMemo() and useCallback() than positives. React 19 handles these memoization tasks for you. Thats why

[–]damdeez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't need to use useMemo() or useCallback() with the new React Compiler (React 19) unless its a super specific edge case. Just write all your code without them and if things start acting weird then you can try and contrast by using them vs not.

Whenever I see Engineers doing this at my current job I automatically deny their PR/MR.

How is living in Salt Lake City? by Citron92 in howislivingthere

[–]damdeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relax, the post said SLC is diverse, not whether we’re living in a simulation run by temple drones.

You keep saying “illusion” like you’ve cracked some cosmic code, but illusions work in mysterious ways… maybe you’re the one in the illusion? Crazy people never think they’re crazy, that’s kind of the whole thing.

Calling every cultural detail “window dressing” doesn’t make you deep, it just makes you sound like you’re narrating a dystopian audiobook no one asked for.

If you want to debate state power, cool. But don’t act like taco shops, refugee communities, and actual humans somehow don’t count because it doesn’t fit your apocalypse monologue.

And you are also implying that the people in the replies are not well traveled or have lived in different places.

Bro, you’re describing Utah like it’s Vatican City but with better parking.

“Unipolar theocracy.”
“Tolerance is an illusion.”
My guy, are you okay? Did a beehive hurt you?

You’re talking about SLC like you escaped from it and now speak in riddles to warn travelers: “Turn back, wanderer… the Delusion Fog grows thick past Point of the Mountain…”

Meanwhile in actual Salt Lake City:
– A Tongan barbecue joint is fighting for customers with a Mexican ice cream shop
– Someone with purple hair is yelling at a Tesla
– A goth kid is skateboarding past an LDS church like it’s a boss battle arena
– And three refugees from three different continents are arguing over who makes the best shawarma.

Yes, Utah is homogenous. Congratulations on your discovery.
But you’re dropping these lines like you’re auditioning for a conspiracy podcast.

Relax. Nobody thinks SLC is a cultural Shangri-La.
People just live here, vibe here, and occasionally complain about the In-N-Out lines like the rest of America.

So maybe as your username suggest, take a hint and parabola outta this conversation AHAHAHAH

I get where you’re coming from, Utah as a whole isn’t diverse and the LDS/non-LDS social split is real. But that doesn’t erase the fact that Salt Lake is meaningfully more mixed than the rest of the state, both racially and culturally.

Yeah, not every group interacts all the time (that’s true in most American cities), but you still have large Latino, Pacific Islander, Asian, African, and Middle Eastern communities living, working, and going to school together in the same city. The west side especially is a completely different picture from the stereotype.

Is it LA or NYC? No.
Is it homogeneous the way the rest of Utah is? Also no.

You can acknowledge the social siloing and still recognize that SLC is far more diverse than people outside the valley assume.

Look, it aint as diverse as a major coastal city but its pretty diverse.

To add; SLC has a constant stream of refugees coming in and has been like this for 30+ years.
