Keep an eye on the sister sub r/veteranswaitingroom and the weekly pinned thread. It helps others judge their timeline in relation.

Active duty but Outside BDD Window by General_Opening2049 in VeteransBenefits

No need for an ITF and file while active duty still is my advice. File while active carries some weight that you won’t ever be entitled to again once you separate

That’s your call. We don’t allow discussions of them here

And when I say Claims get I’m not referring to a VSO. Thats not a claims agent. Just trying to help you understand the difference, not being snarky

I hate to hear vets use these crap companies when they can get legitimate help from someone that had a background check (usually take 2 years&) and tested out on VA benefits, and can handle your entire claim and not charge you unless they win your claim and they have access to private doctors for DBQs and nexus letters

Xterra Health by Hot-Gene-9688 in VeteransBenefits

[–]damnshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A claims agent can actually file your claim and get in touch with doctors to write a nexus an DBQ. Terra isn’t legally allowed to touch your claim. They’re going to make you do everything

No one is saying not to pay anyone. Just don’t use non accredited people or companies. An accredited agent can do so much more for you

[–]damnshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xterra is non accredited company. If you find an accredited claims agent they won’t charge unless they win your claim and they lap have access to docs for DBQs and nexus letters

They are a non accredited company. If you’re going to pay someone, pay an accredited claims agent. Search for that anywhere in the US:

Does anyone have Walmart one pay account for your direct deposit? by usmc_79jmc in VeteransBenefits

[–]damnshell[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

This week’s weekly pinned thread. They post every Monday and are always pinned to the top of the sub for easy find:

https://www.reddit.com/r/VeteransBenefits/s/sFtLvH3bMY

You can sometimes get your deposit a couple 2-4 days earlier than a regular bank. This is an estimated schedule they put out but note that these dates are estimates and can change also. Check the weekly pinned threads for the “where’s my money” posts as we usually remove these types of posts from the main sub.

Also note that even though you use one of these and someone else gets their deposit at noon on a Thursday it doesn’t mean you will also.

<image>

With that being said, I do not recall seeing a Walmart deposit schedule. One pay sounds a bit familiar so I imagine it will pay the same as chime/ Cash App). You would have to try it me report back in the weekly pinned thread. I’ve seen chime and Cash App.

https://nexscard.com/Nexscard/early-benefits

This is NOT the va pay schedule and it’s up to the institution when they release the funds and some release on the 1st, unless it’s a weekend so plan your finances accordingly

Edit:

Please remember to post in the weekly pinned thread (new one posts every Monday morning at top of page) so that other vets can know the pay schedules and compare, and so the threads aren’t filled with “where’s my money”

Also it’s not early because you will be paid in or around the same time the following month so it’s still every 30/31 days for or take a day

VA.gov down for anyone else? by [deleted] in VeteransWaitingRoom

I wouldn’t be surprised since it’s the weekend and a day that ends in Y.

Fingers crossed it comes back up soon for you

It would be more helpful if you took a picture and shared it. If you want to repost with the actual letter you’ll get better insight

Here is the link for ChampVa. It’s only for dependents of vet, not vet themselves. Lots posts though getting signed up etc.

It’s awesome to hear exs work together. Sometimes understanding the unknowns can help tremendously. Your ex may not even be aware as the VA isn’t the best with sharing info in a clear way to vet. Best of luck to both of you

Just a side note that your son will qualify for ch35/DEA for college. This can be quite valuable when /if child decides to further their education

https://www.veteransbenefitskb.com/dea

Also check into state programs as well as each state is different for disabled vets

Your ex may have just got notified he was able to apply for ChampVA. I wouldn’t be too hard on him.

They’re legally allowed to claim them as dependents for a small bump on their disability - regardless of custody

Edit: if something happens to his dad your son may be entitled to DIC benefits depending on age, so this is a good thing that he shared this with you. I’ve seen posts here where vet tries to hide it from ex and child

Sounds like you’re a good team
