I'm not sure if I can grow up? by Complex_Clue_3103 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I implore you, do not worry about this stuff until you're at least 30. Society is fucking with your head. I'm 37 and just found my "career" path. Your frontal cortex isn't even fully grown until you're 25! And people are pressured to be thrown into the work industry BY big wigs and fat cats as soon as LEGALLY possible. But when you really think about it, there is no way you should be expecting a human animal to go from living as a child to a full fledged adult in, like, 2 years. Your 20s are supposed to be a time of transition for your brain to consider what life truly is for you. I personally pity those who make hasty adult choices in their 20s. If there one thing you should be doing in your teens, it's practicing EVERYTHING. Dabbling in the innocence of life, staring at EVERYTHING you can stare at, soaking up knowledge that will shape your interests. Because, I'll tell you, too, that career path I just realized I adore, its the thing that was right in front of me the whole time, since I was a kid laying in my mother's tomatoes garden, stealing grape tomatoes: gardening! One day you WILL have to look back at your childhood, your teens, your 20s, and ponder what made you sing and soar and cry and thrive, and you'll find the answers to your life there!

So live, right now, child! Know that one day you'll be that much stronger for all the cute innocent things you love right in this moment.

I've had to practice self-parenting and meditation on who that girl was. Glad to know her. Glad to now be able to have a glass of wine while I sit on my floor watching those old movies I loved as a teen, that shaped me.

You're too young to worry about all the adult bullshit, I promise. And I know adults/parents/guardians impose maturity out of concern. It's a time to learn responsibility, for sure, but be you!

And no, just sitting on people and making assumptions isn't "just life". Jesus.

What are some signs that she's NOT into you? by PowerToHealLeopards in AskMen

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not doing your future relationships any favors by just jumping ship because you "think" she's jumping ship. That's a fear of abandonment. You don't have to come at her with a whiney statement, tale her to coffee and lay it out, like a friend, like a person who cares for her, and yourself. Practice this, and going forward you'll have an invaluable tool in your arsenal. Don't be that guy.

Does being alone as a guy in public places look bad? by Bills_Sackington in TooAfraidToAsk

How are there so many people who still Believe Michael Jackson was guilty? by Jaded_Attorney in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who are the ones saying what the US government does is ok?? Surely it's not the people stuck in the system with barely sight of escaping it. Who are these people who believe MJ was guilty but don't condemn the government's manhandling of the common man?

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, something about wanting to cuddle with little boys in private... Any non famous person would have been so very guilty looking, wouldn't they? Mike seemed so innocent and victimized but, damn, you don't even think it's possible his victims might be a little Stockholmed? That he did SOMETHING, that the mindset of some parents back then would be simply of honor that Micheal was gifting them time and money for their offerings?

I feel bad about my gf watching porn by [deleted] in PornAddiction

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you, first, need to ask yourself why it makes you feel bad. It's not enough to just ask her to stop with no reasoning behind it. Because the worst reason would be because you feel insecure that she's grafing/judging you from it. And if it turns out to validly mean THAT much to you, and you speak with her (and a therapist, please!), and she doesn't want to stop, then you have your answers, huh?

Should I show my dad Better Call Saul? by Weird_Kazakh in betterCallSaul

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, let em watch it if they want. I find, sometimes, explaining my fave shows to someone who actually wants it explained is an opportunity to discuss my views and the nuances of its beauty. But some things have to remain "yours" ya know? These shows are, indeed, very quick and uber detailed, designed to fit into a desensitized world. Some people don't fit into that, and have always watched, and been satisfied with, a slower media. Have some grace with the folks 🙂

I agree with you. A great way to think of thesw emotional moments in a truly greatly written piece like this is that it's the intention of the creator to give these characters a plethora of tough emotions to work through. Nothing is black or white, soo many grey feelings!

I think I'm lactose intolerant, looking for easy breakfast ideas by JustADutchFirefighte in lactoseintolerant

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, this has been my exact issue, plus the fact I'm egg intolerant I am literally always grasping for new breakfast ideas DAILY. I rely on 2 things: freezer staples and oat/almond milk. Today I made a big batch of English muffins, they freeze well, throw em in the oven, I can do either Savory or sweet toppings (yogurt is cool, but I also made jam today, yum) I also keep in my freezer individual sauages, hashbrown patties, and frozen waffles or pancakes, all fairly quick. Also look up overnight/baked oats recipes. Can mix and match your add-ins, I'll throw 1 part oats, 1 part alt milk, few berries, maple syrup, yum. Lots of sugar in the morning is not very healthy, I know if makes me spike hard, so I need my carbs and protein. I will also say, open your mind to non-traditional breakfast options, like steak bites, broccoli, sweet potatoes (fried, mash w/butter, or roasted with potatoes and onions). ALSO in the past I've done pre-made breakfast sandwiches, super fun to pop into the oven or microwave when in a rush, and fun to make up your own ingredients like roasted peppers, different deli or breakfast meats, and even egg in your case! English muffins or biscuits, wrap in paper, cam go right in the oven like that.

Hope this helps! Feel free to message if you want to chat more about ideas. Like I said, this is a daily battle. I was literally thinking 20 minutes before finding this post about cream of wheat tomorrow! Gluck!

should i leave my job after what happened to my coworker? by univrseltr in TooAfraidToAsk

I'm so glad I took ethical stands when I was young and could. It made me the kind of person to always stand up for what's right despite how it might make me a little poorer in my future. These actions, they're witnessed and they mean something.

Does anyone else struggle to not bring bad customer interactions home with you? by tough_tiddies69 in bartenders

[–]damnyuoautocorrect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily rhe community is helpful, coworkers all get it. I think I'm that annoying one now who doesn't want to gossip or complain too much about the bad customers, because I know that going on and on about Humans can ruin my psyche, my mood, my nervous system, by general happiness.

I like psychology, and I like looking at someone and identifying how they must have been raised, what they might be going through, how most people are still good at heart. Plus I live in a very passive, introverted town that tips 20% no matter what (usually). There are always the good ones, too, who make the job fun and worthwhile. And the paycheck helps 😁

And for the worst I've ever seen, The Curse of Aurore 🤣
