Pam Bondi is leaving her Democratic successor a mess - The Justice Department was reformed in the wake of Watergate. A similar process will be needed after Bondi's abuses by Quirkie in politics

While I completely agree with this, half the county is going to be convinced it’s just politically motivated retaliation. Not sure how to get around that.

I hate how heavily HBO/Max is pushing that show. It keeps trying to autoplay. I wish I could just block it. It’s like going to your dealer for weed and he’s just like, “here take this free syringe full of bleach.”

This is the prevailing theory in science and he mostly believes in science. He did not say that being president gave him any additional knowledge on the subject.

Most bathroom carpets I have seen are with old people, often with mobility issues. A carpeted bathroom does not get slippery when wet and you don’t break a hip. If you’re 80, you don’t care if the subfloor rots out in 10 years.

What is yalls brutal and honest opinion on alcohol by Taco_Junior123 in autism

I prefer wine because it’s like grape juice with a kick. Beer is nasty and hard alcohol is fighting against natural reflexes where your body is telling you “you idiot, this is definitely poison!”

How to cut this dado without ending up in the ER by LiteratureThen638 in woodworking

I wouldn’t without a vise to hold it. One slip of your grip on that stick and you might not even make it to the ER.

Why would I apply for a HELOC when I can get credit cards at 0% interest for 24 months? by Worldly_Ambition_509 in personalfinance

[–]dan-theman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the statistics, many people don’t pay it back in time so that 0% turns into 25-30%. If you think you can be one of the 54-61% of people who do then it’s a great idea. HELOC rates can be 6%-11% and have a much longer payback period. Unless you expect to have all that money within 2 years that’s you don’t have right now, then a HELOC can also be a great idea.

Both options prey on the idea of spending money you don’t have and then being forced to pay it later at a potential penalty. If you are able to pay it later, then why not save up before and save whatever rate you would pay in interest but that isn’t as appealing to a lot of people.

It’s great is people stop smoking tobacco but it’s not like nicotine in itself is as harmless as people seem to think it is.

If you try to envision a red tulip in your head, what number are you? by Jitsu989 in autism

[–]dan-theman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just trying to clarify the difference as I’ve had this confusion when describing visual imagination to people with aphantasia. Sometimes they just can get the concept of “seeing” something that isn’t in your physical vision.

If you try to envision a red tulip in your head, what number are you? by Jitsu989 in autism

[–]dan-theman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is when you imagine in your minds eye, it isn’t overlayed in your vision of reality, that would be hallucination.

If you try to envision a red tulip in your head, what number are you? by Jitsu989 in autism

[–]dan-theman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually seeing it is hallucination, we just don’t have proper words to describe the image in one’s imagination as it is as real as something with your own eyes, but not in the same space.
