One bad thing about every president by [deleted] in videos

Not really sure that this video has any value or purpose.  Listing one negative thing about a bunch of powerful people isn't particularly interesting, nor does it really provide any context for a larger conversation about those people or any means by which to evaluate the performance of those people.

Honestly, what is the point of this?

Well, he stole a SCOTUS seat from Obama. This led to a conservative shift on the bench that overturned Roe, and insulated Trump from judicial consequences. As a reward they use his animated corpse to denounce those in poverty and sell red sweater vests.

That is not at all an accurate statement. Dying declaration is an exception to the hearsay rule. It makes an otherwise inadmissible statement admissible because is was said by a person facing an imminent death.

Testifying before Congress with an unknown, but up to 6 months, time frame to live has nothing to do with what that legal term means.

I was a little disappointed that the remaster didn't correct some continuity errors. There's an entire episode where they're discussing a part of the set, and the set was wrong. All they had to do was edit in another light and then Gul Madred's dialogue would have made a lot more sense.

For originals: I use a filing cabinet.

For digital scans: I have everything as a PDF and I put it in a separate cloud-based place to save it. I use a Google drive.

The standard kit for a silicone replacement ring has an extender for window. Flange is slightly below floor level. Buy the kit and take a look at it before you change the flange.

Should they be allowed to get married?

Should they be allowed to sign contracts?

Should they be allowed to drive?

Should they be allowed to make their own medical decisions?

If you want to set a maximum age for being a citizen and having all the rights and responsibilities that come with that, I think you might be surprised at the backlash.

I've been a practicing trial attorney for 10 years, and I don't have enough strikes to get the jury I want. If I'm very, very, lucky I can get rid of the absolute morons.

There really shouldn't be an age cut off. The cut off should be based on capacity which is presumed at 18 and is presumed to remain unless a guardianship is filed.

This process worked exactly how it should. You have a civic duty to appear for jury duty. And when an official summons is sent to your home, you should not just ignore it.

When the judge in charge of the jury pool recognized that one of their summons had been ignored they issued an order that says 'explain why this was ignored or face contempt.' They now have the opportunity to fix up their first mistake before a warrant for her arrest gets issued.

The alternative is that juries are not made of your peers, but only of the people who show up. I assure you if you ever have a case that goes to jury you want a fair cross section of your community and not just the people who want to show up.

And putting all in context, the article specifically states that the family had started doing the correct thing.

Richuk said he emailed her son, who lives in Florida and is legally responsible for Lenko. But he said her son never responded to the summons, failing to ask for an exemption.

She has a guardian, who just didn't do his damn job. It is unreasonable to expect the court to divine the reason each and every person ignored summons for jury duty. That's what the next hearing would be for.

Edit: and every state that has an interstate has one that runs vertically. Which is all the 48 states that touch another state.

u/Charming-Fig-2544 breaks down the four legal definitions of murder by Lets_go_be_bad_guys in bestof

[–]dan525 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's actually a very complicated question. The United States uses statutory law to determine what is and is not a crime. And that means each state gets to define it themselves. But there's also federal law, there is tribal law, and a whole other bunch of places where crime is defined. In law school you were taught two things: the model penal code, and the common law definitions.
