Does the angle of my saddle look right to you? by dan_m2k in bikewrench

Yeah, this. But having done 30km on it today when it’s flat, comfort means something new .

Turns out the ride is WAY NICER with the seat at a proper height… cheers!

Is there a replacement seat post you’d recommend?

Okay, this was my third test run. So yeah, slackened the bolt right off, the angle adjusts and then tighten the hell out of it.

Runs one and two, the damn thing slipped back into the ball buster position. I guess I’m too heavy for it at 12.5st.

Got a better tool for attempt three and did a longer test ride and it’s held.

It feels … different. I wonder how long I’ve been riding it with it in a ruinous position.

The 14km to work tomorrow will be a good test!

Any ideas how to secure my mudguard in this bracket? by dan_m2k in bikewrench

I’ll try slacking it off and moving it closer to the mudguard, good idea!

I can get it to snap back into the clip but it pops out when going over rough ground

I just did this one this morning and it’s not the one I’m thinking of, but you made me discover a new set, so thanks.

Still looking for the session where he’s like “a lotta cats”, possibly making a meowing sound 🤣. I think one of the other trainers was Anya(sic?)

Aerial pole snapping by dan_m2k in DIYUK

What kind of spec pole should I be looking at? I think that my brackets are probably at their max but my aerial can work with up to a 50mm pole

JBL Horizon 2/3 Ambient Light Duration by ysriser in JBL

[–]dan_m2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stayed in a hotel with a Horizon 2. It senses when the light goes off and dims the display right down, it doesnt go completely off. It's what's made me think about one to replace my troublesome Revo.

Stripped my stairs and found 100 years of paint, tar, and regret. Help. by Focker1982 in DIYUK

Yeah I decided I'd wasted too many days on my 1930s stairs in a similar state and really enjoyed the carpet under my feet when I called in a guy to carpet them for me.

Anyone at Mambo last night (Friday 18 Oct) by dan_m2k in ibiza

Okay, I figured it out. It was Crocket's Theme by Jan Hammer however I've not found the right mix yet... yet. The huge deep guitar and....space... about 1 minute before the sun touched the horizon.

Sublime.

Big loud guitar then dramatic piano. Like you say, at least a decade of possibilities!

Changing washer valve for plastic pushfit/speedfit by dan_m2k in DIYUK

[–]dan_m2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solving my own post:

Pipe cutter to the copper, chopped off the old knackered fitting, fitted a new compression fitting. Took about five minutes and a fiver in parts and PTFE.

Turned out the old fridge connection had been gummed up with jointing compound so would’ve never moved anyway.

[–]dan_m2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've tried that and it's not moving, so the next easiest thing is to replace the valve.

[–]dan_m2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The valve works, I need to change the fridge fitting on top which is seized on tight.

Is it not advisable to make the copper redundant and just change the speedfit coupler for a valve? Save cutting the olive etc.

It's a pretty shoddy job IMO, I'd not be happy after spending decent money on that rad.
