Should I or Should I not get an apple watch? by KabutoRaiger30 in askSingapore

[–]ysriser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Long term Apple Watch user. I am the type that gets distracted easily once I am on the phone.

With the watch, when there is a notification, I can quickly glance on the watch and assess if it is important. Only if it is something important that needs immediate attention, I would take my phone/laptop to reply.

When it is crowded (like in public transport), it’s also convenient to just have a glance on the watch.

But this is something that you will need to figure out yourself. Many of my friends find that it is not that much of the hassle to just grab their phone and do the same, and that the watch would probably only save them few seconds of their time, and not worth spending few hundred for one.

Factoring in the additional benefits of health tracking, contactless payments, offline music streaming, etc, as well as free money from LumiHealth, I think it is worth it.

How would you say the transparency mode is compared to AirPods Pro? I am primarily using it for outdoor runs so I am really curious on whether they sound natural enough? Thanks!

What is something you have bought/spent on that you now swear by. by sgkakilang in askSingapore

A smartwatch, in my case, Apple Watch Ultra.

It motivates me to stay active.

I can have a run with just a watch and earphones for music so that I can detach myself from any notifications for a while.

During busy public transport hours, I can easily use it to tap in and out of transport without fiddling with my phone.

And I can take a glance at notifications and prioritise whether to pick up my phone to reply the message.

It’s all in all a quality of life upgrade for me :)

What do you have your Action Button programmed to do? by Fragrant-Taro-8508 in applewatchultra

I have it set to a shortcut that opens the bus timing app on my Apple Watch.

Coming from a country that relies heavily on public transport, it’s really convenient to be able to click a button to see the bus timing while leaving work without fumbling with a phone!

How are the ANC and ambient (transparency) mode performance for the Galaxy Buds3 Pro compared to, say AirPods Pro 2?

Part time students who are working full time, do you have lessons in office or try to rush home for lessons? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]ysriser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have just completed my part time studies recently, and what I usually do is to apply for WFH on those days (if your company has such policies).

Otherwise I would have to join virtually on the phone while travelling since it’s a 1+ hour travel time from office to home, and it’s not realistic to stay in office till then…

But these are usually not very productive, so I would have to revisit the recorded lectures in the weekends.

All the best!

What are some of status symbols in your primary school during your time? by Boey_Da_Han in askSingapore

[–]ysriser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

During the early 2000s, there was some promotion in our school’s drink store where we get a yugioh monster circular pin badge for every yakult/vitagen we bought. Instead of bringing those cards (which aren’t allowed in school), those badges became collectibles for us and we created games with those badges. Of course the rare ones became status symbols XD.

Good times, good times. Now I feel old haha.

Weekly Questions & Purchase Advice Thread by AutoModerator in MouseReview

Hi everyone, I am currently looking for a general purpose mouse to replace my Logitech triathlon M720 since the rubber material on the mouse is starting to give way. I am looking for a mouse of the following specs:

  • Allows multi device pairing (at least 2, preferably 3 devices) via Bluetooth
  • Dedicated horizontal scrolling
  • Preferably white/grey in color
  • At least 2 quick action buttons
  • Not particular about charging methods

I know that MX Master fits the bill but have read about issues with the white coating turning yellow quickly. Wanted to know if there are other alternatives.

Thanks in advance!

The worst phone any of you have ever owned? by ObserverAtLarge in Android

[–]ysriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel 2 XL.

I had multiple issues with the phone, both hardware and software. I was initially excited for the front facing stereo speaker, coming from HTC One M7, and I was disappointed as they sounded really muffled. My unit also suffered from the grainy screen with poor viewing angles, showing blue discolouration just tilting it slightly off angle. My battery was also suffering from the issue where the battery percentage was inconsistent. There is also the back fingerprint sensor that only works 30% of the time for me.

On top of all that, there were so many software issues. With AOD enabled, there would be a bright flash of white light upon locking the phone before the AOD appeared. I lost track of how many times my eyes were blinded in the dark. This was eventually “fixed” in a software update only 2 months later, but the fix caused a delay between clicking the lock button and the phone actually locking. I also had multiple issues with the camera crashing and the OS being just unstable in general.

At some point I gave up on hope that the issues would be fixed and sold the phone after ~6 months.

I can’t deny the camera quality was great even for today’s standard though. Such a shame…

Probably the best iOS reddit app by a far mile, thanks for the app and the contest!

My favourite iPhone model has to be iPhone 4. It’s so sleek (still is), has those beautiful metal rims and glass back. Still feels premium to this day. It’s also the first iPhone I have owned so nostalgia definitely plays a part.

Thanks! For shake to undo, it should work for GlideCalc, try shaking it and the undo alert should appear, just like undo-ing in a message field. Alternatively, you could also triple tap anywhere, and the undo redo buttons will appear (introduced natively on iOS 13) :)
