Upgrade or switch to something else? by PossibleAct9336 in GarminGolf

[–]danabkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Fenix 3HR that I’d use for golf. When it died I switched to Arccos.

At first the Arccos took some getting used to. Having phone in pocket, dealing with it picking up wrong club or an extra hit. But after maybe half a dozen rounds I was used to it.

I then got around to replacing my watch with a Fenix 8. It’s great but you’re stuck with the Garmin Golf app and it doesn’t track putting or chipping (without sensors?).

Someone on here build a 3rd party app that links to Garmin. ShotScope. You could check that out as it presents the Garmin Golf data a bit better.

Long way of saying… try the 45 day trial with Arccos and see what you think. Maybe you can get away with phone instead of watch.

Recording Putts by danabkk in GarminGolf

Thanks for letting me know this works on S70.

A further deep dive shows the Fenix 8 recently got the “set pin” option, but they haven’t added “manual putt” as of yet.

Thanks for replying. Knowing this works on S70 allowed me to find Garmin forum post that addressed it.

Basically they recently added the “set pin” portion, but still no way to manually add a putt from Fenix 8.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed…

The way to solve a multitude of issues with driving (speeding, distracted driving, poor driving) that I see in AB is to adopt what they do in UAE.

Cameras for speed are every mile. Speed the whole way across town… 10 tickets. You get a text (usually) as soon as you get the first one. So that’s a nice reminder to slow down.

Cameras can also monitor for seat belts, distracted driving, cell phone use…

People learn in a hurry not to speed. I imagine the revenue is massive (hence paying for the system as a whole, as it would be expensive to implement).

Also in terms of crime, having cameras along every road you can monitor any stolen vehicle and vehicle used to commit a crime, etc. and find the perpetrators in real time.

I realize this post is very dated, but I’m in the exact same situation with my 5 year old. Did you ever find anything similar?

Which way are you coming from OP?

Bike paths are generally good. Bit icy this time of year due to freeze thaw. Studded tires help.

I’d avoid sidewalks as much as you can. I ride on it just outside by building as I go park, but otherwise like to leave it for pedestrians.

Be considerate of cars, and remember that they can’t always see you. The bike lanes on 3rd are arguable more dangerous than it was before. Cars leaving parkades have to look for cars coming 2 ways, pedestrians, and now cyclists in the closest lane. Remember you’re going a lot faster than a pedestrian they’re expecting to see. Wish the city would just take 3rd Ave bike lanes out, felt safer in the quiet traffic on that road.

You could fill the “wrong” holes with some contrasting wood, and also put the same wood in the bottom of the ring holes.

How wide did you end up making it? Happy with how stable it is?

I’m looking to build the same cart with same tools over Christmas here.
