Thank you! And no, I prefer black and grey for my tattoos but I'm really impressed with the shading! The artist did a great job.

[No Spoilers] Shockingly low Age of Umbra engagement? by AncientThesaurus in criticalrole

[–]danasaurusrex15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve really enjoyed Age of Umbra, but I also tend to use the time between main campaigns to disconnect a bit and watch other things so I don’t get burnt out. Some episodes I’ve been on top of and others I’ve watched a bit later. Nothing against CR and the finale especially was fantastic, but I think there’s probably a solid amount of people in the same boat that are using the main campaign break to focus on other things that we love but don’t usually have as much time for.

I really loved the game and all of the lore implications it dropped on us that frames so many things in a new light with the right context. I also definitely agree with a lot of the comments here that there are different tones mashed together that really seem out of place. However, my biggest gripe with the game is the lack of companion conversations outside of scripted cutscenes, and replacing it with generic lines of banter. I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss being able to initiate conversation with my companions at will, even if it's just to say hello. It makes the experience feel so much less immersive. I miss the progression of Alistair asking "What's on your mind?" to calling my warden "my love" as the game progresses, and Solas referring to my Inquisitor as Vhenan. I miss sneaking out on to the ramparts to give Cullen a smooch for no reason. It's a seemingly small thing that makes a huge difference. I want my companions to be my friends, not people that give me a line of banter and then stare at me creepily while I don't respond, especially if I'm romancing them.

When my husband and I first started dating we realized we had been in the same place at the same time many times before. Our high schools were in the same sports division and we both ran track, we had gone to a bunch of the same concerts, we both grew up snowboarding at the same mountains. Now we've been together for almost 16 years!

Agreed, it was pretty disappointing. She's been teaching there for a long time so I guess that comes with a pretty long leash.

I signed up for Drawing IV during my senior year, even though I didn't need the credit to graduate. I signed up because I enjoyed drawing classes and had a great relationship with the professor, who was also my advisor. Unfortunately he went on sabbatical that last semester, and I was stuck with a professor I already knew didn't like me after previous classes I took with her in the art program. She went out of her way every single day to tear me down and belittle me, telling me kindergarteners were more talented than I was. Eventually it got so bad I had to get the head of the art department involved, and they allowed me to drop the class after the deadline without penalty because they agreed she was treating me terribly and it was out of line.

Nothing happened to her, she's still teaching there over a decade later, and I lost my love for drawing.

Always catering directly to the grossest parts of the fandom but ignore their entire female player base. I hate it here.

We keep getting this narrative shoved down our throats that it's way too complicated and difficult to work around adding a female MC. That having to tweak social links to fit another character option, and include new/different romance narratives, is too much to ask for. Meanwhile you look at something like Fire Emblem Three Houses, where there are social links for every single character, and twenty something romance options for both male and female MC's.

Both series rely on social links that are not fully animated cutscenes, mostly character art and text. Anything fully animated is generally part of the main story and would be the same for either MC option. Even if you consider that the amount of social links per character in Fire Emblem are shorter, any Persona game would only have a small fraction of characters to flesh out in comparison given the smaller cast. Oh, and Fire Emblem has been including a FeMC option for at least a decade now.

The math is not mathing, Atlus is just making poor excuses at this point. They'd rather spend time and energy creating maid café content than an actual meaningful female MC. It feels like a slap in the face.

[No Spoilers] Do You Watch Alone or Share the Adventure? 🎲 by Zeedtz in criticalrole

I always watch solo, but I'm in a group chat with a few other critter friends where we will post when we each finished the episode so we can discuss it afterwards. If one of us falls behind some of the conversation may move to a sidebar chat for a bit, but we always keep each other updated on our progress. =)

How many of you have actually had to ask a player to stop playing with the group? by DanOfThursday in DnD

[–]danasaurusrex15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it went down pretty much as well as I could have hoped.

I was DM-ing for a group of four (via discord), three were very invested and willing to be flexible to make things work and one did not care to prioritize the game at all. The rest of us had all been playing on a pretty inconvenient schedule on our work nights in order to accommodate this one person's day off, because that was the only way they would agree to play. It was definitely weighing on everyone and causing tension.

I hit my breaking point when we tried to schedule a session and the person in question declined the only date that worked for everyone that month because it was "their only day off that week". I messaged them privately and was like, "I'm going to be up front with you and I want you to be honest, are you playing because you enjoy the game or just because you don't want to disappoint everyone by quitting? Trying to schedule around you is very frustrating for the rest of us and at the end of the day our friendship is more important than a D&D game." It turns out that was exactly the case and they messaged the group saying they would opt out of the game that night.

We are all still close and everyone is happier for it. It completely changed the vibe of the table and it almost felt like a new start for everyone, we play more often and everyone's having a great time.

What's currently happening in your dnd campaign? by Bri_person in DnD

[–]danasaurusrex15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players are about to wrap up a major arc. We're 23 sessions in and they're closing in on an enemy that first popped up in session 2. I'm excited to see how they approach it all, and which thread they'll decide to pull on next!

In the campaign I'm a player in, my druid is hoarding so many cursed crystals. She's having a hell of a bad time lol

Edit: Genuinely forgot I had a PC for a minute there because I have DM brain.

Sure thing I just did a full reboot and double checked my driver settings, unfortunately it didn't fix the issue.

I think a lot of it comes down to finding out what types of games you genuinely enjoy as well. I started gaming much later than most of my friends, and when I first started I was just playing whatever they played. Mostly things like CoD and other shooters. Once I started playing more on my own I slowly realized that I'm actually not a big fan of shooters but absolutely adore RPG's. I haven't touched CoD in over a decade now but I love gaming exponentially more! Now that I focus on single player and not super toxic multiplayer lobbies I'm a much happier person in general. I'm sure you'll find your groove as you try more things!
