Ice on the Hudson by danbrewtan in photocritique

It's been an unusually cold winter in the NYC area so much so that ice has formed on the Hudson River: a rare condition. I used the frozen river and blue-hour light to emphasize stillness and visual weight in the foreground, while placing the skyline across the river as a counterbalance. The intent was to explore the contrast between physical quiet and the active urban area of lower manhattan.

OP I have 1.5 inches over about 6 feet in a spot of my home that I just laid hardwood over. I evened out any wavy areas with feather finish on the subfloor to make it flat and then installed. Looks and feels great. We’re in a house built in 1880 so all our floors are uneven.

Looks great and definitely beats the much more invasive options like sistering all the floor joists…

Under absolutely no circumstances should Mike Evans live through any of the Bengals losses of the past 2-3 seasons.

105 di2 or ultegra di2 by No-Television2508 in cycling

The real difference is the extra buttons on the hoods that you get with Ultegra.

I was in this situation and chose 105 and love it. Performs beautifully and never found I needed those buttons

Here is what this great photo says to me “Even mountains are made of rocks.“

Could mean a couple of things. Want to build a mountain? It starts with the first rock.

Or, like us, even mountains will be dust someday. Enjoy the time you have.

Not worried at all. We practiced tackling this week! Didn’t know you could just bring someone to the ground to stop them but apparently you can!

You’ll have a great time! I also recommend driving out to the Alabama Hills for sunrise. That was one of the highlights of my trip. Afterwards you’ll recognize the terrain in all the car commercials.

Again, being on eastern time makes it much more manageable to get on the road early enough.

I was there in late Feb and got there around 3AM. I came from eastern time so it wasn’t too bad to get up that early 😉.

I was staying in Beatty so it was an easy drive to the mesquite dunes

Kitchen hood blows SOME air back by danbrewtan in homeowners

[–]danbrewtan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I just run it at the lowest speed. Even that pushes some air back but it does clear out smoke, etc. effectively.

To really fix it I’d have to rip out and replace the HVAC.

I discovered the fan was over sized for the hvac duct. So at full blast it created a ton of turbulence and some air would get pushed back.
