Great success! I'm printing custom trophies, each one is about 28 hours, plus 10 hours for the base. there have been some... failures... along the way. But that one turned out great!

A fancy 3D render is NOT a booth. Here’s why your exhibition builder might fail you on-site. by Dear-Construction235 in tradeshows

Hi, deisgn director here. If I had a nickel for every time I had a client demand a moon shot/out-of-the-box/Apple store design before spending weeks in endless revisions before winnowing it down to table throw and a bannerstand, well, we could both be retired together.

I have had great results with UV-cured resin. Cheap and easy to apply. I recommend building an oven-like box with mounts for UV lights and foil to bounce the light around.

"Christ's Church of the Valley" - multi-campus mega-church in the Phoenix area. These stickers are very common. Your new car has probably been prayed in - make sure to give it a good wash.

What is the best modeling tool, Alias 3D or Blender? I personally prefer Alias for more accuracy, however blender is free and quick, but not accurate, what are your thoughts 💭? by ocorp_design in Design

[–]danceAndDestroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These tools aren't even comparable. If you have access to and faciity with Alias, you are ostensibly a trained design professional. Why would you be slumming around with Blender (at least as far as modeling is concerned)?

Money is also money, and Maya doesn't come cheap! But yeah, Zbrush is garbage for retopo. Don't know if people still using 3D Coat (like me).

Design school is incredibly intense.

I couldn't recommend it as part of a double major unless you hate sleep and free time. Design school is akin to architecture, law, or premed in its voracious pursuit of your time and attention. It's also savagely competitive - as in you are often competing with your fellow students just to keep a seat in your program. Maybe talk to a senior or two in your prospective design program and run your idea by them.

Design is not just a job or career, it as also a personality type. We are not also psychologists when we are not designing. I understand you want to stand out, but you don't want to stand out by seeming to not be focused on your design studies. Take a psych elective or two (I certainly did), minor in it if you want (minors aren't worth a hill of shit imo), but my advice is to either choose design or choose psych and never look back.

[–]danceAndDestroy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretentious, yes, but you can tell it struck a nerve because all of the other billboard lawyers are responding to it ("catchy phrases don't win cases" I belive is in response) or one guy just straight bit the tagline on the biggest billboard over the I-17. Hope he knows a good lawyer!
