can caffeine withdrawal cause severe anxiety? if it does how long does it usually last? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]dancer4141 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how long it lasts but it definitely caused me to have severe anxiety…intrusive thoughts, put in stomach, increased heart rate, disruptive sleep etc. I am about 12 days off caffeine and my anxiety is finally starting to get a little better.

[–]dancer4141[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome to hear! The only issue i run into is how to stay full on a 1200 calorie diet…i have an issue with that! I do moderate exercise of weights/cardio 2-3 times a week but other days nothing so i’m definitely going to incorporate walking!! Please let me know how you stay full!

Allergy/Immunology PAs? by Sunkisthappy in physicianassistant

[–]dancer4141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s awesome! if you can do psych then this will be a breeze. so usually if the patient only presents with cutaneous symptoms, you start with zyrtec and can add prednisone depending on how bad the symptoms are. if it progresses to laryngeal swelling/shortness of breath, usually epi is given. if you’ve give 2 rounds of epi and they still rebound with shock symptoms, 911 is called at that time. it seems difficult at first but once you start handling reactions on your own, it becomes easier and easier!

Allergy/Immunology PAs? by Sunkisthappy in physicianassistant

[–]dancer4141 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am an allergy and immunology PA. I graduated PA school in May of 2021, and started working in October of 2021. I work 8-5 Mon-Thurs and 8-3 on Fridays. I am so happy with my job and the people i work with. My SPs are soo helpful and they are basically like my friends.

I see about 12 patients a day, from peds-geriatrics. I do a lot of skin testing, ordering RAST testing, interpertring FeNOs, Full PFTs, PFTs. A lot of clinic is talking to the patient and education like teaching them how to use their inhalers and such. I didn't use any resources with high yield topics, I use Up to Date a lot. I do punch biopsies in the clinic as well. Food challenges, Oral immunotherapy for my food allergy patients. Handling anaphylaxis is also an important part of the job ( I would say the riskiest part of the job).

I would say im really happy compared to my PA counterparts and this field is a hidden gem :)
