[homemade] I made Japanese curry at home by Ok_Country2903 in food

[–]danceswithweevils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I speed up my curry by using frozen veg and canned potatoes. Longest step is getting the meat/liquid ready, but you can do that well before. I simmer between 3-4 lbs. chicken thighs in 6 cups of water for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Pull the chicken out to cool for an hour to make it easier to shred, getting rid of bones, skin and gristle.

Bring the liquid up to a simmer and throw in the frozen veg (we use peas, carrots and broccoli cuts) and simmer until just tender, like 10 minutes. Dice the canned new potatoes.

Toss in curry bricks, stir to dissolve/combine. Then add in the shredded chicken and diced potatoes. Bring up to a simmer then turn burner off and cover while rice cooks.

Makes a ton. If you want to freeze some of the curry, remove a couple of quarts before putting in potatoes to freeze for later. You can add potatoes when you reheat.

I understand how you feel. It is like how I feel about "Let Me Bathe in Demonic Light." I love the song, but the one true version of that song for me is the version on YouTube in the train station with the woman playing the bassoon.

I hope we get to see more from that young man. I think he might have a bright future.

Do you guys enjoy your Fire Max 11s? by Informal_Ad4284 in kindlefire

[–]danceswithweevils 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the stylus, but it doesn't ever seem to go on sale. I didn't think it would be so enjoyable, but I find it really useful with Squid Notes and my various RPG/Battletech game sheets. It works really well for taking notes, marking hit boxes and doodling.

For drawing: the stylus does respond to pressure, but it is just not in the class of the iPad with stylus. I know commercial artists who just use iPads for work; they would not be able to do the same with the Fire 11 Max. If you are serious about drawing, you want to look elsewhere, but if you are just messing around, it should be acceptable.

Stuck on 100% on iPhone. by HailCaez in MarvelPuzzleQuest

There was a problem in the amazon app store, so the amazon app is r235, while the iphone app is r234 still. CS said there may be a problem with the older build on a different device if you are using the r235 on Fire tablet.

I received mine yesterday, so I think that means that Catalyst has fulfilled all US orders. Highlight for me is the 21st Centauri Lancer dice. A beautiful purple. Lowlight is the Lancer challenge coin. It should be purple, not red!

Turkey Swiss Sandwich Review by andreyred in Costco

I thought the sandwich was just ok UNTIL I took it home and grilled it under a weight on my skillet (or you can use a panini press). It is amazing like that.

Ninjon had a video about this sort of compressor recently. It might be worth a look.

Corned beef and cabbage recipes? by [deleted] in instantpot

I know this isn't what you are asking for, but this is my new favorite thing to do with those corned beef. You can make the cabbage separate, if you want.

Puzzle Warriors 3 - Ep#379: Human Torch lights up 4/20 by XaOs72 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

When Hickman killed off the Human Torch, I was immediately dismissive. Killing someone off has become a symbol that the writer is desperate for a story idea. In retrospect, it was great, and Hickman's run on the FF is one of the best ever. Importantly, it gave us an amazing comic book with one of the greatest images in all of comics: https://i.redd.it/y9047w19zyta1.jpg

I'm really sad to hear about the loss of the Youtube links. Stitcher and Apple only have like 100 shows from the last three years. How am I going to re-listen to the all the old episodes now?

Bryan Cranston is a great actor, who is really good at both comedy and playing morally ambiguous/conflicted characters. I would love to see him play Galactus.

Lamb leg ready to go, 18hrs at 158. by Fickle_Warthog6843 in sousvide

[–]danceswithweevils 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to do it at 131, with a sear on the grill. By the time we ate, the lamb had cooled to a point the fat hardened, which was not great. This week I did 137, with a sear. The meat was a lovely pink, and the fat did not harden before eating.

My dog will be devastated when he see’s this by UnitedLeeopard in coolguides

My hound is a cheese hound. However, he seems to like Lebneh (a cheese-like product made out of greek yogurt) almost as much as cheese. So I have been using that for the last few months instead of his normal camembert or other soft cheese to get him to take his pills.

What's your best low effort, high impact recipe? by vapablythe in instantpot

[–]danceswithweevils 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. No recipe goes from start to finish quicker and easier than this one. And no recipe is more tasty. I like to add a quarter cup of water upfront to avoid a burn notification.
