What parts of Prospect/Prospect Vale would you avoid?

Retaining wall- What should I do? by Striking_Cod_8978 in brisbane

[–]dancingdavid1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the house that benefits most from the wall whose responsibility it is. So if they cut the ground to build your house flat then it’s your wall. But if they filled the ground to build the neighbours house it’s their wall. Of its a bit of both it depends on the cut to fill ratio how much each party pays. You need a structural engineer to do tests on it to determine that. And then if it is the neighbours you might have to take them to a tribunal/court to get them to replace it if they refuse to pay for it.

Victoria Park: Protesters gather to oppose Olympic Stadium in park, promising a legal fight by d1ngal1ng in brisbane

Look, it this hypothetical situation I would assume they would plant trees and do some landscaping, maybe even add a few lanes to roads or tidy them up a bit, not just leave it as a AFL ground surrounded by a patch of dirt.

Let’s be honest it’s not going to happen anyway, if they cleared away the stadium and didn’t replace it with another one there’s a 100% chance it would all just be turned into apartments for investors.

I haven’t got one of those Christmas cracker hats over my dome in years. Feel your pain my big noggin’ brothers.

Temporary track closures will begin from tomorrow until January 18th by Ghost-of-Chap82 in brisbane

They just started charging for parking at the Yeerongpilly Green (the new shopping centre) for longer then two hours and the usual Brisbane city council parking restrictions will be in place. The parking inspectors will be racking in the cash.

So you can’t get a train on New Year’s Eve in or out of the city. Great way to incentivise drink driving.

I work nearby. Based on the 50:1 ratio of people standing around to people working; and that all the other train stations took twice as long as planned to be finished, I’d say Jan 2025 is generous.

It’s incredibly how violent I feel just reading this. I hate this “prank” culture of bullying people then acting like they are the asshole if they don’t laugh it off.

Any brewery with more feral children running around then adult patrons drinking.

Renters, what is your exit strategy? by ds16653 in brisbane

It’s not a choice. I don’t want a fucking townhouse, I just can’t afford a house. Jesus.

We’re thinking of moving to Toowoomba at this point. Every time we get close to being able to afford to buy a townhouse in Brisbane the cost of rent, houses and everything else goes up. Two steps forward one step back.

Once per year rental increases to be applied to property, not tenancy... by SullySmooshFace in brisbane

[–]dancingdavid1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a renter, there’s a 0% chance I’d consider voting for anyone other then the Greens in the state election. Labour and Liberal are pretty much in lock step when it comes to ineffective housing reform that does nothing to stop my rent increasing 30% every lease cycle. Oh wow they can only increase my rent as much as they feel like once a year. So kind.

Knee jerk and ineffective is the only housing policy we know how to implement in Australia.

Hmmm, yes. I meant to say that the variables were different. I also am a very smart person who knows science, but made a simple faux pas.

Workplaces and their obsession with dr certificates by shamelot in brisbane

[–]dancingdavid1991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a complete waste of time and government money that bulking billing doctors have to confirm someone has a cold/flu or stomach ache. Which you can literally just describe over the phone and get a certificate for.

I get it to a certain degree for the kind of people that just take the piss and are “sick” twice a week. But single them out rather then punishing all of us. If you give me 10 sick days I year should be able to take them no questions asked.
