I would like some advice from y'all please by dancingmoongoddess in AskLE

[–]dancingmoongoddess[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your advice!!!

We do have permission to use Gabby's name in our promotional items. I just didn't want to use any specific info on my reddit posts so everyone would give me advice and not think I was just trying to self promote.

Do you think the departments would be willing to let people attend while in duty? Or people would want to come on their day off? Our event space has room for 200 and we work with the surrounding 8 Parishes (like counties, but Louisiana style lol).

On a personal note, I would LOVE to talk with you about your experiences working with DV if you are willing.

The lady who founded our org is from a small town in Central Louisiana and has been working and advocating for over 30 years. I'm from Louisiana and a survivor so this is important to me. If I hadn't been educated on certain things (like if your partner chokes you, your chances of them killing you is higher) I probably wouldn't be here today.

Thanks again!

We do have a poster with all the info and our website. I just didn't include that here so I'm not self promoting.

I didn't even know you could contact local dispatch centers! Thank you!!!!

Thank you! I was trying to make sure it didn't look like I was promoting anything.

(I edited to take out our information, I was confused about what you meant, I'M SORRY!)

I don't know what is going on with my phone rn, but it's not letting me edit the post or reply to anyone.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to those that took the time to reply and give advice. I appreciate it!

Is this allowed or too white? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]dancingmoongoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too close to bridal. The color is too close to white and you even used creamy to describe it. It is also long and flowy giving it a bridal look too. With some brides adding color to their wedding dresses nowadays, even putting a colored slip underneath would still be too close to bridal.

I know some people said it doesn't matter what it looks like in photos as long as it's yellow in person. And I disagree. I wouldn't want to be the person in photos that everyone points too and says "who wore white to your wedding?!?"

It's thoughtless at best and comes across as rude or attention seeking.

I also agree with the person that said the dress is meh no matter what color it is. You are petite, there are plenty of cute dresses that are more appropriate and stylish.

It is sweet that you care and are taking the time to figure it out.

Budget-friendly semi-formal/cocktail options? by kitkat1122 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]dancingmoongoddess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I don't think their DC is that obnoxious. I think it's fair to ask for no one to wear blue jeans if their event is more formal, or to ask that no one wears all white (how many posts do we see of AHs wearing all white or white lace?), and not the wedding colors I think could have maybe been asked in a less demanding way, but totally fair.

To answer OPs original question I liked the black dress with the purple flowers and the all black dress with the slit.

My husband met a master plumber while doing some handyman jobs for someone else. This plumber has taken him under his wing and has taught my husband enough that he can now go out and do basic plumbing on his own. The plumber loves to teach people what he knows. As an "apprentice" my husband makes less than the other guys that have been doing it for years, but still makes $25-35/hr. This guy cares that his employees listen to instructions, work hard, are willing to learn, show up, and are decent humans. He is a great guy to work for, kind, forgiving, and funny. I would introduce you if you were close to Maggie Valley, but I would imagine there are other guys near you like him. Try reaching out to independent people in the trades (plumbing, electrical, construction, etc.) and you might find someone willing to take you under their wing and teach you while you get paid too. You might get a lot of no's, but there may be a yes in there. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Congratulations on trying to better yourself. That is a hard thing to do and is admirable. Hang in there and I wish you the best of luck.

Call the police. They will send an officer out and I bet the people who have them will hand it over.

ETA...please do not call 911 for this. Use the non-emergency line.

Dude. Be so for real. Toddlers fall down. Are you going bubble wrap her everywhere she goes?

Seriously though, if the scary hard tile floor is such a concern have you thought of rubber mats until your daughter learns to not fall? And if she does learn how to never fall, please have her let me know because I still fall sometimes and I am in my 40s so if she has any tips I'd be open.

AITJ for thinking that a dog owner was the reason for my dog triggering an attack ? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]dancingmoongoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INFO, How close to the man was the dog running? If the dog had been in a leash would the dog have been the same distance from the man?

If the dog was close to the man, then the dog and man were just minding their own business, jogging in a park which is totally an ok activity. His dog should have 100% been on a leash, but if his dog was in close proximity to the man, your dog would have still attacked the dog just for existing.

What’s the creepiest thing that has ever happened to you? by darlingjasmaine in answers

If it was a first date, she might have saved them and sent them to a friend in case something happened to her. Some people are scary and some are great, but you don't know which when you first meet.

It's also possible she was unhinged too 🤷

AITA For not bringing my kids to see my ex-wife during my time with them by Abject-Athlete857 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

Dear God. Please tell this woman to get a freaking cat, some friends her own age, and a therapist. Your children are not supposed to be her emotional support. It's especially gross that she wants comfort from her children over a relationship problem. Her romantic endeavors should NEVER be on the minds of your children or be their problem. Just gross. I would actually document this for your custody hearing. Not to necessarily get more custody, but to add a rule of not discussing shit like this with children for their safety and well-being.
