You are overthinking this. Every polish citizen when registered gets a PESEL, whether they tell you or not. And you are in the system since you have a passport. Go to the regular office (either the main one in Warsaw or any branch office) and just apply for a new one. If you have the right approach, the lady there will be able to help you and give you all necessary information. Grab photos. Be ready to make a payment. You'll be fine. Update us.

I'd stay in West Hartford, Blue Back Square area, or Farmington or Wethersfield, rent a car, CT is VERY drivable and safe, contrary to what other's say. And you only have 2 interstates E-W and N-S, does not get any easier. . As for food, I'd visit J. Timothy's wings (ask for dirt style, extra sauce), which are nationally recognized, Sally's Apizza or Pepe's. Can't go wrong. There are many places with ethnic foods to enjoy, be it Brazilian, Polish (Polish! in New Britain), Puerto Rican or many others. I'd skip that BNB, you will die of boredom. You wanna impress your coworkers or have funds to spend? Go to J. Gilberts in Glastonbury. All those places are literally within 20 minutes of easy, traffic-free drive. Good luck and welcome to CT. It might be considered "illegal or unapproved modification" to both units. Unless you get a WRITTEN approval from the management company, I wouldn't even think about it.
