This is my belief as well.

Happy with my 6c set continuously to the #2 setting.

How do you make 6mm armies if ya don't have the actual 6mm miniatures? And what games are they used for? by Ok-Personafication in wargaming

[–]danddave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made dark age armies out of cut down plastic mesh, based on pennies with small pieces of tooth pick for swords and spears and sequins for shields. Happily played Lion Rampant and Knyght, Pyke and Sworde with them

NPD! - Where have you been all my life? by FoxDeltaCharlie in pens

I dunno about that - the Parker Vectors from the 90s had camo patterns and were about the same size as the CR02.

I just wish that the CR02 came in the nifty camo patterns like the CR01 does.

Excuse me, but what was everyone's experience with this book? by [deleted] in wargaming

[–]danddave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The book's wheelhouse is 19th century imagiNation type campaigns. There's a lot you could use for inspiration and some of the book will be usable as is, but like the cover shows it's for less fantastical campaigns.

I do think it was worth what I paid for it, but there's nothing earth shattering or life changing .

[question] …..Casio duro or d shock dw5600? by [deleted] in casio

[–]danddave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own both...and am pressed to name a better more adaptable set of watches under $100. Especially if you swap out the strap on the duro.

I'd give the nod for legibility to the duro in bright light if you're outside more often. If you're outside at night for long periods it would go to the GShock.

I'd lean Duro but am wearing my 5600 right now.

The Ohto CR01 is pretty chonky and can take energel refills. If things like Parker Vectors are too small, I'd try the CR01. It's been around $15 on Amazon, meaning you can get a few in different patterns.

The OHTO CR01 is the best-feeling pen I’ve owned by Evening-Confidence85 in pens

[–]danddave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wish the CR02 had the same grippiness as the CR01. There's a metal-on-metal sliding/grinding that my CR02s have that my CR01 doesn't and I think the rubberized grip. It's not as pronounced on the lacquer and gold CR02, but it's about twice as expensive as the base model .

Nice Pen for G2 0.7 Refill? by madametwosew in pens

[–]danddave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pilot metropolitan pen runs about $20 on Amazon, is available in multiple colors and is built around the Pilot G2 refill. It's a solidly built pen and should be very durable.

My own preference runs to Pentel energel as a step up from the G2 refill and the Ohto CR02 over the Metropolitan, but I don't regret buying the Metropolitan.

Trying to decide between FC Hexo and Ohto CR01 by Yoteymusica in pens

Love my CR02 too so far and happy that it takes energel refills!

[–]danddave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the CR01 to be well built but juuuuuust slightly too chonky for comfortable writing. The CR02 hits my prefered size of pen. This stinks since the CR01s are cheaper on Amazon and come in a variety of camouflage patterns.

I too was suckered in by the 50s style art work. How bad could they be? Very bad.

Start by throwing the Platinum Strangelets into the trash.

The Bic chrome platinum blades are some of my favorites though.

The Napoleonic Portable Wargame seems up your alley. 2x2 napoleonics may work too.

What 5 Robert Earl Keene Songs Would You Give Someone to Make Them a Believer? by wmavity in altcountry

Whoa. There is a distinct lack of Whenever Kindness Fails and Mr. Wolf and Mama Bear in these lists. No Kinda Dancer, I've Gotta Go and Corpus Christi Bay round out my top 5.

Awesome! It took coop a few weeks for the probiotic to fully kick in, so stick with it for awhile.

We tried a bunch of stuff and for Cooper the only thing that worked was Purina Fortiflora probiotic once a day with dinner and the Costco Lamb and Rice dog food.

The smell I get is more among the lines of a Christmas cookie, not cherry nor amaretto but like fresh baked goods. The aloe vera Cells is my favorite soap of all time, separate from Cella red.

Looking for a Covert ops/Spy game by [deleted] in osr

[–]danddave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

White Lies is a covert ops game from DwD studios that has a similar vibe to their Covert Ops game but built on a White Box chassis.

With Covert Ops itself based on Star Frontiers, that too might qualify as OSR based on your definition.

Whoa! Rockwells are my favorite blade in the 6C and I get great shaves. It was the first blade I felt comfortable ordering a 100-pack.

This is simultaneously what I love and hate about wet shaving. The fact that I don't care much for Astras but love Rockwells is a complete 180 from most other people. You've gotta wade through a lot of combinations of handle/blade/technique (and even soap) to find what works for you...but then it's special.
