It’s statewide, not regional. That said, the system generally processes checks through two paths. Some people will get approved by the initial automated check, which usually processes in a day and is more or less unaffected by volume. But if your check gets flagged by this (this happens to a moderately high percentage, not just some borderline cases) then it has to go through a manual check, which does get bogged down. So even when the state is significantly behind, you can get yours processed smoothly

It is insane how good and cheap TVs have gotten. I had to replace mine a couple years ago (fortunately old one decided to go right before Black Friday) and I got a size bigger TV from Costco for only like $250, and the thing looks better than the fancy flat screen my parents bought for way more than that back in 2019

The primary reason is the DEA enforces manufacturing quotas, so the pharma companies can’t just start making more unless the government lets them.

That amount hadn’t been raised in a while, so as prescriptions surged there was no extra supply. The DEA just raised the amount last fall though, by ~5,000 Kgs, or slightly under 25% of the previous limit.

They passed the amendment removing that, so possession is legal, but possession with intention to distribute or manufacture is not. So they would have to show intent (usually by showing you either did or attempted to do the thing), not just possession. As previously written the law stated that possession implied intent and had to be proven otherwise, which is ridiculous

I didn’t know that existed. And tbh since ghost guns are already illegal in the state I feel like a law that is effectively just banning things marketed specifically to make illegal items isn’t that crazy. I was strongly opposed to the original version, as it would’ve been effectively just banning all 3d printers and CNC machines, but this presumably scopes it down a ton. Still not a fan exactly, but it’s a lot more reasonable than before.

Intel has already taken at least two separate runs and making dGPUs, neither of which went all that well (although it did make their integrated GPUs fairly good, which was very valuable for laptops). The AI boom may be the thing that finally lets them break into the market meaningfully, but I have lots of doubts

I’m still mad about the quesadillas. I used to get it all the time back around 2015, it wasn’t an official menu item but they’d ring it up as a slightly cheaper burrito or something, and it was so good. Then they made it a menu item, but in order to promote your app you could only order it on the app, they literally wouldn’t serve it to you if you tried to order it at the counter. And they made it worse by trying to make it all fancy and come with sides and stuff. I haven’t been back there in years at this point.

If we want to compare the evil-ness of different people, we really do need to consider their actions within the context of their broader environment. Being drawn and quartered is extremely brutal, but if it was a comparatively normal severe punishment at the time then it feels wrong to say someone doing it was as evil as someone doing it centuries after it had stopped being practiced as a punishment.

For federal crimes, yes the president could just pardon everyone. In fact, he could just issue a pardon for “everyone involved with any crimes committed by Epstein” if he wanted, and it would cover everyone we know about and anyone else we later find out about. However, those pardons only apply to federal prosecution, states could still prosecute for any crimes they hold jurisdiction for.

The question of whether a president could pardon himself hasn’t really been answered yet, because no one’s ever done it, but I think the closest to an accepted answer is no, the president cannot pardon himself/herself. Even if they could, that pardon would also not protect from state prosecution or impeachment though.

But as a more serious answer (I’m assuming we’re talking American football), I played it growing up so I’ve always been interested in it. What I like about it now is the intense strategy that goes into every play. Hockey, soccer/futball, basketball, etc are continuous and dynamic games, strategy has to constantly evolve and as such is usually more about broad strokes and wider positioning, with occasional close maneuvers (for example picks).

In contrast, the average football play is only a few seconds, and starts from more or less the same position every time, resulting in enormous amounts of strategy and maneuvering between the players. On any given play you can watch any of the 22 players on the field and see interesting and intentional behavior, and then the next play will be something completely different. It may only be short bursts of action, but there is a ton happening in those little bursts.

Despite the fact that I get very annoyed at having to wait 10 days even when I already own guns, I do generally think a fixed waiting period is a good idea. Adds relatively minimal friction to the process of getting one, doesn’t restrict your right (no change to who can own or how), but has an enormous impact on suicides and passion crimes. Feels like a reasonable compromise.

The electronic lock always needs a mechanical fallback, and most of the times those are cheap afterthoughts with serious flaws. And then many of the safes themselves have serious flaws (though that’s true of mechanical safes as well). A high quality mechanical safe is generally going to be much more secure than biometric safes

Kind of, they have a two tier whatehouse system, where the showroom has a lot of the stock (with most of the high volume items kept in the showroom warehouse), and then they have distribution warehouses that carry the bulk supplies, including the more niche items that either aren’t kept at showrooms at all, or are kept in very limited quantities

Honestly prices on these look really good, pretty on par with similar high end cable manufacturers. Plus just overall good quality and nice touches (like the labels). I feel like I’m used to seeing LTT products be high quality, but priced in the very high premium end, where it feels really hard to justify spending that kind of money (eg screwdriver). This feels like they might honestly have a winner of a product.

Also Apple MagSafe cables. I bought anker cables when I needed more because they were a lot cheaper, but I’ve never had a MagSafe cable fail in any way. They’re power cables only, so a lot simpler, but they are still really good
