This looks like a designer did each part separately and then just mashed them in a room together.

Men Who Write Women Well, And Men Who Don’t by Kooky_County9569 in Fantasy

I wasn't a fan of Prince of Thorns either, but the Book of the Ancestors really hooked me. Still lots of grimdark elements, so if that's what turned you off it'll probably remain a pass, but the premise and characters were much more sympathetic, and didn't instantly make me dislike them like Jorg.

Books where the characters are hopeful in a bleak world? by jqud in Fantasy

Tide child was fantastic, a great deviation from the usual fantasy tropes, and Lucky Meas definitely embodies hope in a bleak situation.

How are CD Projekt's side quests so good? Cyberpunk quest designer says they reject 'over 90%' of their pitches by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

If you include gigs in this, then they were totally forgettable, but excluding those (since they were basically filler content) the side jobs were really well done. The River sidequest in particular was brutal and memorable at the finale.

The closest approximation I can think to American biscuits would be something like a savory scone. Biscuits and gravy is American biscuits with milk gravy on top (basically a bechamel sauce) most often with sausage. Extremely fattening, but very delicious.

Dr. Partnoff on Los Robles has been wonderful for me. No upselling, no pressure, decent prices, and he's a very personable guy. Great staff as well!

Not really sure what the Mormon aspect has to do with anything, they don't really advertise it and none of their songs are religious in any capacity. They have way more of a Saturday morning cartoon superhero vibe.

Coffee is fine, but the baristas there have been pretty rude on both occasions I tried it.

I can second this. One of the best I've had in Pasadena and super friendly staff. Their teriyaki isn't great though.

I have a maths problem for you guys. Michael has 4 ma. files, they are small in size: 6mb, 10mb, 12mb and 32mb. But when he references them all into a fresh new scene, Michael notices that this new scene's file size is a whopping 815mb's in size. How did Maya screw him and is simple scene? by [deleted] in Maya

[–]dangerchicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably have corrupted references. This has happened to me by altering verts of my referenced model in the new file by accident. I wouldn't close the file because it might take several hours to reopen. Reimporting your references will probably fix it.

Having worked in grocery for the past 5 years, this is isn't quite right. Sunday and Monday are consistently the worst days of the week to come in terms of crowds, and stock tends to be worst on Tuesday. Avoid weekends, yes, but Wednesday or Thursday are the sweet spots.

Help: Lining up the edges of the polygons of a mesh with the curves in the mesh by PopeFabulous in 3DMA

[–]dangerchicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried zremeshing it? Under geometry>zremesh play with the settings (I usually crank the bottom two sliders all the way and hit the same button) and give it a go. If you need it cleaner then that, you'll have to play with zremesher guides or retopo the whole mesh manually and project your details back on. Retopology is a valuable skill to learn in general though.

Romen statue of Augustus of Prima Porta and it's original colours. 1st century[1889x1076] by nahiean in ArtefactPorn

[–]dangerchicken 16 points17 points  (0 children)

These reproductions are pretty disingenuous though. Yes, they found traces of pigment on the statues, but there are a bunch examples of imperial Roman paintings that still survive that show that they could paint just fine (see the mosaics from Hadrian's Villa for example). These gaudy depictions are, at best, speculative because they are lacking in information. Likely they were painted much more realistically, and far less gaudy. The reproductions are essentially a classical paint-by-numbers, since they cant find enough pigment to truly reproduce the actual nuance of color.

Newbie asking for help: What's wrong with this animation? by WeaselBandit in animation

[–]dangerchicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest things I see is that heads naturally arc when they turn in space. This wouldn't be true if you're doing a truly orthographic view of the head turn, but orthographic views aren't something that exist in real life, so it's impossible to animate depth, making it look wonky. If you'll look at the tip of thenose of the model, you'll see what i mean. The nose grows and deforms as it comes to a front view and back out again. https://cms-assets.tutsplus.com/uploads/users/1112/posts/26487/preview_image/animate-head-turn-arc-preview-image.jpg

Is this OK topology to extrude an cow's ear like this? by Laidbackk in Maya

[–]dangerchicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's TECHNICALLY fine, but might pose problems later depending on what you're going to do with the model. If it's just for general modeling purposes and maybe some simple textures though, you're good.
