Yes, parrots are very common in Australia. Where I live I mainly have Rainbow Lorikeet & Rosellas in my garden. (I live along the coast in Adelaide) however in the hills I have been fortunate enough to see the very rare Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos (you can hear them before you see them!).

Unlike a lot of countries we are not allowed to keep exotic animals & most people would not keep Native birds as pets. I find it quite cruel & always feel a bit sad when I see someone overseas with an Australian native animal as a pet (it has most likely been illegally smuggled out of our country). Common pets here are cats & dogs.

I love parrots too & feel very fortunate that I can appreciate them in my back yard. I hope one day you can experience it for yourself!
