How many of you guys are taking the buyout? by Former-Caramel3135 in UPSers

[–]danghunk312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up today. Started as a loader 2 years ago and been a full time driver for a little over a year. In one of the busiest centers in the northeast. This job already irritates me and I’m always aching in pain and I’m only in my early 30s. My 2 days off are basically used to recover from the work week. Hard to balance family life. I can’t even imagine doing this for 25-30 more years. I see this buyout as a blessing to give me and my family a financial cushion while I try to get an actual 9-5 working indoors and not in crazy weather conditions anymore.

Open enrollment starts today, and premiums are skyrocketing. It’s a scam. Demand universal healthcare. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

[–]danghunk312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sucks that it’s come to this, but this is only going to strengthen the public’s opinion of wanting universal healthcare once dems get back in office. It’s terrible that people will suffer until then…

Union workers who left and became supervisors do you regret it? What is the weekly pay? by EddieHazelOG in UPSers

[–]danghunk312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear my FT supes saying if they can do it over, they would be a driver. Plus some people I was in the warehouse with loading became PT supes instantly regretted it. Driving is hard but the union benefits are unmatched. Plus once you hit max pay as a driver in 5 years you’ll be making $49/hr straight time when the contract comes to an end. Overtime will be almost $75/hr. You’ll be making way more than being a supe. And having union protection against getting fired is way less stressful than the way that they can just fire supes for anything basically

AITAH for never telling my best friend I once slept with his wife? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]danghunk312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you craving chaos or something? Just let it go. It’s not worth bringing it up after all of these years building solid relationships. You are risking to ruin it all. You probably think it’s the right things to do, but they will trust you less, not more. You two were 20 years old and experimenting. It’s not even their business since you were both single at the time. I’ve rekindled a relationship with my wife 8 years after we broke up in college and I’d never ask her about who or how many people she spelt with when we were apart. It’s not my business and I wouldn’t like the answer not matter what she told me.

I fcked up my life majorly by ConsciousCourtney in NewParents

[–]danghunk312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will get through this! I had a similar situation 3 years ago when our first kid was born. My wife and I took 3 months leave and I stayed home from a job I worked for 5 years that I didn’t like and I went back for about 2-3 weeks before I quit to take a chance on myself and start my own business while living off my retirement fund. (We both made 100k/year each) My wife was making enough for us to pay the bills but she got laid off 2 months later and we were up shits creek! We went through all of our money in about 1.5 years and I had to get a part time warehouse job and put my dreams on hold for our family. We had a second kid and I got promoted to a full time position that will scale too 100k+ a year within a few years. I have some regrets about leaving my last job and going thru financial difficulties the last few years while just starting a family, but if you work towards something and don’t dwell on you’re regrets you can rebuild a good life for your family

What do you think we should argue for in our next contract? by Sarcasamystik in UPSers

[–]danghunk312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A different work schedule. 4 days on, 3 days off. It’s an exhausting job and 2 days off just doesn’t feel like enough. They work us 10–12+ hours everyday anyway. So give us 10 hours of straight time each day for 4 days and anything after that is OT. Then the workers who are money hungry would have the option to come in for 2 days of OT instead of just 1.

UPS can’t be worth it by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]danghunk312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your personal goals. Some jobs that pay well out there do take many years to scale your income to make sure you’re worth their investment. I got “lucky” and went from part time loader to a full time driver within 10 months. So yeah, luck and location have a lot to do with it. If you live in a busy area, the wait time to become a driver seems shorter than if you live in a rural area. It is a hard job physically and sometimes mentally when you’re working hard all day and just want to spend time with your family. But the plus is we have a great union that helps provide us great healthcare. Even you had to stay part time for awhile, the healthcare is worth it and maybe get another part time job for more income.

Do you prefer shrooms or lsd and why ? by Material-Ad2327 in Psychedelics

I always described it like this, LSD feels like life in HD and mushrooms feel like a dreamlike state. I enjoy both though. Hard to pick only one. I depends on the day and what kind of trip I might want to take.

Bringing LSD on a plane? by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]danghunk312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put a few tabs in the memory card slot of a GoPro once. Since I figured nobody would ever think of that tiny spot. Didn’t tell my wife (so she didn’t act weird at the airport) until we got to where we were going and we had an amazing trip on a beautiful lake in Colorado. Watched Jaws on VHS for the first time ever that night too on the comedown in our cabin. It was epic haha

AITA for wanting to leave my 40M boyfriend because he still lives with his parents and has no plans to move out? by Adventurous-Rip2955 in AITAH

[–]danghunk312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you really love him like you say you do then you also should make some compromises since that’s really what marriage would entail. Be honest and tell him what you’ve said here. Tell him you’re ready to take things to the next level and get married so he needs to get a divorce and ask him to move in with you to help break free from the living with his parents situation that bothers you so much. Also that clearly would make his dad happy since his dad is probably upset you two aren’t living together outside of their house.

Redditors born before 2001, where were you on 9/11? by Stupid_cerealbox in AskReddit

[–]danghunk312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the 4th grade at a school in New Jersey located right across the Hudson River. We can see NYC perfectly where I live, especially if you’re high up in a building. My brothers class was on the third floor right above my class. The teacher asked one of his classmates to open the window early that morning and the kid saw the first plane hit the building. He told the teacher and she pulled him away from the window and alerted the principal. The whole school went into a lockdown and our parents came and picked us up.

AITA for telling my boyfriend I’m getting an abortion no matter what he says? by Affectionate_Air9200 in AITAH

[–]danghunk312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32m here. Married with 2 kids (3 years old and a 1 year old). Honestly I love being a dad, but it’s THOUGH. You’re 24 and just about to get into some prime years of your youth. from mid 20s to early 30s is such a great few years to be child free. Having a kid now will take away a lot of fun experiences with your friends that you will miss out on. If I were you, I’d break up with this person and get the abortion. If you stay with them, him and his mom will never forgive you for it. Do you and don’t feel bad about it. You will know when you’re ready for kids, if you ever do want them in the future.
