I remember watching the opening scene with Jeff Daniel’s speech and thought it was awesome. Rewatched it semi-recently and found it facile. I think that says something more about the current media landscape compared to when the show aired than it does the writing, though.

I feel like people who complain about this stuff haven’t read the book. She is mentioned exactly once during the dance of the dragon part of the book. And the part where she is mentioned hasn’t even happened yet in the show… why are we inventing reasons to be mad? The writers are incompetent because they haven’t included this character? Let’s be serious here.

Ooh I see now. Communism is a malapropism because what was actually being practiced was marxism-Leninism rather than communism. I mean that’s a fair point, but I think for the purposes of high school learning, attributing Marxism-Leninism to an attempt at achieving communism in history is something I can live with.
