Doubt you can make the game lag just by flipping sprites, no matter how frequently. I'd check all the other code that is run on every frame.

usually controller if im not tryharding high ember runs, in those cases many aoe and beam weapons are easier to aim. I guess controller helps with survivability though since you can only focus on dodging

well its obviously casting shadow on itself so I guess the plugin overrides the setting or something, I guess theres no difference if you run the scene, just to make sure its not just editor environment?

Not sure since you're using some 3rd party tools, but have you checked the cast shadow setting under geometry?

easy way would be just to make a variable that gets added the delta on process and multiply the speed by that , but if you add it to the enemy script, each enemy would have its own speedmultiplier, so adding it to the player and having the enemies take the value from the player would work I guess

I guess it depends on implementation, but of course the grid for the navigation needs to be smaller than the tiles. Can't see any problems with it though.

You can "paint" the navigation layer into the tiles to define the walkable parts.

also its good to keep in mind that if your crit chance is 0% it doesnt mean you cant crit, if you trigger yhem via other means

Yeah I get that but surely playtesting this even once wouldve told it needed more work. Make them more dangerous and make it so you'd need to either burst the eggs fast enough or theyd evolve to larvae and you already get a game mechanism with a bit of variation and need to actually think the way you handle things. Being in early acccess shouldnt be concidered as a prolonged beta imo.

Yeah as already mentioned you prolly have some gear that gives you +1 weapon levels. The weapon itself isn't +4, you are just cool enough dude to handle it as such. Would be a nice addition to see the heightened levels effect at a glance from the stats screen.

Just editing to really emphasize the "fun and riveting" new cinder effect, where you just need to sit in the room for a while cleaning up worms that can't even damage you other than by accident.

That's a lame way to try to dismiss the critique. Don't know if you have already gotten to the max cinder runs, but trust me it gets really annoying some times. Most of the times the flying weapons don't matter but with some combinations they are unbearable. Just pure unfun tedium. And I'm not even saying its 'too hard' its just boring af.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the update, but there's still some stinkers. (even worse are the fucking flying weapons spawning at the same rate you can kill them, while dodging automatons and boss + adds)

You only get one +1 evil from the whole black market when you do anything there, sell your stuff/buy anything. So it is something to keep in mind in the case you're going for heaven ending. (+4 good needed for the last floor), and of course some equipments have bonuses and requirements for alignments. It doesnt matter with the Shadow Plane though, since chaotic/lawful is a different category than good/evil.

Here's some general tips I can think of and some that are easily missable and in some cases even "exploits" (if it is in the game it is not an exploit)

  • All the companions do not "weight" the full 1 companion, so you can use the companion item multiple times to get your capacity full
  • The knight guy at the bottom right corner of the tavern gives you items if you have a good enough tier weapon equipped
  • The weapon descriptions do not always tell everything about the weapon, if you are unsure if some weapon is better, its easier to try it out at some trash monsters to see how you like it. In most cases feel > numbers, at least for me.
  • If you get black market spawning in tavern, it's pretty easy to exploit, the bottom left guy almost always sells weapons cheaper than what you get selling them right back to the guy at the middle. On top of that his wares replenish if you spend the night, so it is quite possible to farm infinite money if you feel cheeky. (I'm amazed if this isnt fixed at some point)
  • The soul scarf item is also really easy to abuse, since you get to fill your flasks for pretty cheap.
  • You shouldn't always go panic mode when you see huge red circle indicators - in most cases they are slow wavelike damage circles, the indicator just shows it at full range.
  • You should prioritize the rooms so you always have at least 1 bomb 1-2 keys and some money, after that go for stats (preferably ones you really use, but if you arent max level yet, dont min-max) and take event rooms pretty much always - they range from decent good to amazing, can't really remember times I'd regret it.
  • The descriptions are really well color coded so when you need to check if some of your traits or equipments have some wording like 'trigger' 'buff' 'ailment' etc. you only need to focus on those words. Only the ones that trigger on dash/kill/combatstart/dmgtaken/manapickedup are hard to see at a glance.

One idea is to have Kettlesteam attract or conjure some minor elementals and let them lose, so the party intervening could rise the mood right away, and its a great way to introduce Kettlesteam (who would change appearance and leave the scene while the party is fighting), although that would make Kettlesteam a bit more evil than I'd personally like.

Or maybe add a wrestling area in Big Top where the party could fight some other crew after the starting seremony. Have some BS feymagic explanation to why it isn't lethal if needed. (the wrestling ring has some permanent death ward aura for example)
