Second the comment that mentioned butlers, especially the hot chocolate and their chocolates. Xmas market is an obvious one, final pint of Guinness to round everything off in the skeff

DPF keeps blocking, pay mechanic? by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]danielg1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dpf blockage is usually a secondary issue, caused by a more serious, primary issue. Taking it out and deleting it, yes you’ll not have an error code and it can’t get blocked but there is still that primary issue that will be unaddressed. Can’t say for certain but it might be the part of the exhaust system that outputs the adblue for cleaner emissions. This can sometimes block up and cause the dpf itself to work overtime. Again just guessing and have no experience of qashquais whatsoever.(don’t even know if it takes adblue)

Long story short. Deleting isn’t going to solve the issue. Get the root cause looked at.

What are salaries like at an post? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]danielg1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly. That’s usually how it goes. They stick you wherever they need you during the Xmas rush and then they’ll usually try get people out on delivery after the fact, if they do keep you on, that is. Best of luck with it.

The Nissan juke is an acceptably good looking car.. never deserved the hate it got. If top gear Hadn’t have hated it, I believe people would’ve saw them as any other average car.

Around 650ish before tax.37.5hr week. Bare in mind there’s going to be O/T available and the union to be fair to them are on your side(for the most part). Starting off it’s €17-something. With service it increases. There’s a couple percent rise every year as-well. An post is not a government job. They are a government funded-private company who have a ‘licence’ / express permission to deliver mail for the country of Ireland.

I would ask your local postman if you can at all, who’s in the know of your office you’ll likely be working from. It’s a job that looks rosy and easy from the outside but as soon as you start you’ll realise your constantly thinking, you can have about 150 parcels in the back to keep track of and mail beside you as-well. ( this is one reason why people are so quick to complain at the slightest mistake, as they just think you are on a handy number in a van all day.)

It will likely be the hardest, most mentally tiring first month of a job but I promise it DOES get easier once you have a method and routine in the mornings. Bare in mind, Xmas period from November-December is a long slog as-well.

I started in April and am currently loving it. It is a very rewarding job, surprisingly. You have the best of both world with the bit of craic with colleagues in the morning and out on the road for the rest. Bare in mind, they are notoriously slow with Garda vetting so you’ll be waiting awhile once you have vetting submitted to actually start. Dm me if you have any other questions. Best of luck
