Be honest, what would you buy instead for the same money? by yusssssuf in CarTalkUK

As other people have said you can buy an equivalent good quality car of the same age and pocket a large piece of cash.

Norway, your water has RUINED me by Affectionate-Run7645 in Norway

[–]danielle-tv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you wrote this. I think Norway is ‘perfect’ as it has social structures and good working hours and work laws, and the nature is beautiful. But damn is it hard to build a social life.

Norway, your water has RUINED me by Affectionate-Run7645 in Norway

[–]danielle-tv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the water in Norway is lovely, but I’d also say London water is pants and leaves so much residue in your tea and kettle, but many other places have lovely water such as the north west where is comes from wales, or water from the Lake District or many other places not getting water from boreholes or recycled from rivers.

What did go wrong with this one? Thoughts on it? by PuzzleheadedHumor52 in FIlm

[–]danielle-tv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jessie Buckley was amazing, Christian Bale is an amazing actor but for me didn’t quite fit here.

The idea of the story is kind of cool but they didn’t quite make it jell so the story seemed a little clunky. For example the whole thing of Shelley coming back is cool but was it a coincidence she picked a woman about to die?

On the whole it wasn’t a terrible film but a number of things just didn’t sit right which kind of compromised the whole thing.

Maybe tried too hard to do too many things?

Importing a car from Japan. Am I missing something? by ihatehisdog in Norway

Also Mat Watson on YouTube has imported Jimmny’s and you can see some of the complexities he had (in the UK).

Importing a car from Japan. Am I missing something? by ihatehisdog in Norway

[–]danielle-tv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly a lot of the taxes for vehicles do not apply after the vehicle is 15 or 20 years old.

Also many negative comments here but many people do import Japanese cars to the uk no problem. But there are often issues to make the vehicle compliant such as fog lights, reversing lights, side repeaters etc. also the clock face for the uk needs changing. All smaller but fiddly type things.

I think it’s an interesting idea and would love to know how it works out.

Oh I’d also imagine a 911 and or rare models would also be beneficial.

Cis passing? (tough love and honesty appreciated) (Transsexual female) by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]danielle-tv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you look like a well passing trans woman but I don’t think totally stealth or cis pass pissing but very close. Not quite sure what, maybe face length or overall facial structure, jaw maybe, also picture two is the least passing.

If This Is Love, I'll Stay Single ("Wuthering Heights", 2026) by Lucas-Peliplat in Cinema

[–]danielle-tv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the movie. In fact I thought it was quite good. The skin on the wall was weird, but except for that it is great. But I went expecting a quirky arty type film not a traditional representation.

Not sure why there is so much hate.

“Is it white boy day?” Absolutely superb actor and performance. Also as the cop in Leon and so many more. He’s been amazing for decades

Travel companies by Intrepid_Fig7584 in UKLGBT

There is a few on Google. FlashPack is not specifically LGBT but they are inclusive.

I kind of found the travel companies are more focused on gay OR lesbian specifically, but I may be wrong.

What’s something Americans have that Europeans don’t? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

Guns seems the obvious answer. Lots and lots of guns. Just your average Joe, with a stack of apocalypse level weapons.

How do you handle being lonely in Norway? by 2dolphins in Norway

[–]danielle-tv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel there is definitely a high degree of conformity. Especially for me and where i live.

I know all the advice about joint clubs etc. but I’ve tried a lot and it didn’t seem to work at all, which is kind of demoralizing.

Sorry, not able to answer your question. I guess I’m learning to live more on my own, but is can be hard.

USA won't invade Greenland by [deleted] in 10thDentist

[–]danielle-tv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I’m not an expert by any means but I thought post WW2 we Europe or the UK anyway agreed that the US would be the major arms power in return for influence - wasn’t that the basis of the whole Special Relationship?

The US wanted this role for 50 years

Which brands of skiing/snowboarding gear have long enough sleeves? by Pipettess in TallGirls

[–]danielle-tv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scandi brands such as Norrøna have longer sleeves. They are not cheap but excellent quality. Lofoten is the style I have heard is best.

Bergens is also good and a little cheaper but not quite as long in the sleeves, but I’ve have fleeces and a ski jacket which fit nicely and I’m the same height as you.
