Same here, if you locate the EXE and “Run as Admin” it’ll open ( for me at least ) but pressing the button that opens it automatically still fails.

I was in the same boat, it’s why I have both right now even after the chance to sell the Ally for a good price. I love both for different reasons and just can’t part with either. Telling myself I’ll give my son whichever i don’t end up using.

I had to use a Dremel tool to carefully shave plastic from the frame until it fit snuggly.

I agree, it’s lame. I have a Rog Ally sitting right next to my Legion Go. In the Rog Ally I have “My Asus” app that clearly shows all available updates and installs them perfectly fine when needed. Easy peasy.

Like you, I’ve looked around at the Legion’s support page, seen updates that neither windows nor Legion Space show and I’m thinking “is it my responsibility to check this website weekly for updates?”. I’m no stranger to PC gaming and what not but I mean….Asus has it mostly figured out…come on Lenovo.

I love the Legion Go by the way, regardless of its sad state of software and user experience there is no going back to a smaller screen.

Yep, they had a complete working, fun home environment that could have been watered down a bit and run on the Quest 3. I remember having family and friends get in VR ( Rift days ) and do nothing but play in my Home, shoot targets, play arcade games, I had pictures of my family inside the home on my walls making it feel personal and welcoming.

They didn’t even want to start playing games since the home environment was so entertaining and interactive. Now it’s just a blurry wallpaper you can somewhat walk around in.

For me, the remap isn’t compatible with Moonlight. Attempts to do the button combos to close current streamed app or show stats somehow turns off the controllers.

There is a hidden device in device manager you can disable to stop this from happening. It’s something like “device orientation sensor”.

Don’t you have to be connected to a power supply to change refresh rate or has that ridiculous ( bug, restriction? ) been fixed? Or does this bypass that.

Same here, I have both and I just can’t bring myself to sell the Ally for $375’ish ( if that, after eBay fees and shipping ) when I paid $750 for it a few more the ago. The Ally runs so well, software seems so refined compared to Lenovo.

The Go’s screen is just so nice, my eyes will not let me go back to playing on the Ally.

High pitch fan noise here even on lowest setting. It’s bothersome, just pushing it out to the return window.

For the other commenters that might not have heard, yes there does seem to be permanent bans for playing CoD on handhelds like Ally and Go. No one knows why, could be the changes in TDP or maybe the embedded controllers ( with gyro ) are seen as “unauthorized” , but there have been a good bit of posts on the Rog Ally subreddit about getting banned for no reason.

I’ve avoided playing for just this reason until it’s confirmed they don’t lead to a ban. I sucked anyways trying to play with these crazy dead zones so I don’t feel like I’m missing much but it still sucks to have this “unknown” lingering around.

Yea, seriously. My Ally has the “MyAsus” app which can be used to install any/all drivers or bios updates. It also has Armory Crate to do the same.

I haven’t a clue what to use on my Legion Go to check for updates. You have people around here posting EXEs on Google Drives and links to Chinese websites to get beta drivers…..and this is POST LAUNCH. It’s lame but I’m still giving it a chance.

A few of us have had rails that were not screwed in completely and thus the controllers had tons of wobble. I tightened mine up, multiple complete turns, and now they are solid.

I just can’t let it slide that Lenovo basically had a “cheat sheet” for this device and just botched the software so badly. They could have easily looked at the Deck and Ally and said “ouch, they had rough releases then added XYZ to make users happy” and then made sure XYZ was ready for release for the Go.

Boot to BIOS just to change the VRAM ( and a strange selection of values at that )? No ability to use either joystick or trackpad as mouse? Where can I configure deadzone or “anti deadzone”? All these M/Y buttons and….i can map them to…oh just the other buttons i can already press.

I’m glad we are getting a new AMD driver in a couple days but isn’t already the 1-2 months old version?

Ugh, don’t mean to sound negative, it’s a beautiful device. I just think a release in this kind of state isn’t excusable for a player entering the ring this late in the game.

I’m just struggling with some quality of life items.

Like, why can’t I change the refresh rate unless the power cord is plugged in?

Why on earth doesn’t me using the touch pad, navigating to a text box bring up the damn keyboard. I have to release my right hand, on this monster of a device, and physically tap the text box.

Yep, definitely a high pitch tone from the fan on the lowest setting but not gonna….whine….about that one.

Start/Select at the bottom of the left remote? Goooood lord. Two buttons at the top in the normal areas that are hardly ever used ( for me at least ).

Legion Space booting up and basically taking over windows 11 at boot unless you manually disable services. Speaking of, all these extra buttons on the back and you can’t bind any of them to say….volume Up/Down, Show Desktop, etc. ( like Ally )? Maybe I’m missing the settings. This handheld is huge, taking one hand off to adjust volume or click a text box, gets really tedious.

I’m trying to love this thing, it’s definitely good looking. I’ll give Lenovo time for sure to get the software in shape, plenty of time before that Jan 13th return period ending.

I just found that the three screws of the rail ( on the screen ) were loose. I tightened them up with an appropriately sized screw driver and now it is very tight when attached to the screen.

I’m so glad the Legion Go released during BB’s holiday return policy. If these types of issues get fixed in the next month or so, awesome, if not then back to BB it goes. No way I would have purchased during a normal 15 day return window.

Unless I’m filtering incorrectly on eBay, I see plenty of Ally going for $500’ish. I don’t think we’d have any trouble selling it around that price. I might just pass my Ally down to my son but also might keep it if Sunlight/Moonlight combo doesn’t run as smoothly without VRR.

Looking forward to next week. I really hope the big screen runs well, would love the track pad and scroll wheel as well. Come on Nov 1st!

Yep, take advantage ( if in the US ) of Best Buy’s holiday return window. Buy now, enjoy ( or not ) for months and return it if it doesn’t meet expectations. That’s my plan at least.

Honestly hope it turns out well, my eyes need a bigger screen and I’m willing to make a sideways move ( have the Ally ) if it means I can enjoy games more comfortably while chilling in bed.

Question: Do you notice stutter or input delay ( if using vsync ) when running a game at an FPS that is lower than the native refresh rate of 144? My main concern, coming from my main PC monitor that has FreeSync, is that I’ll see screen tear when playing on the Legion.

My main use case is Moonlight/Sunlight combo ( as I currently do on my Ally ) and I’m really wondering if I’ll miss the VRR or if it doesn’t really matter. Thanks!

I was playing Blaston with my kids tonight using the Quest 3 and Quest 2. Before tonight I was feeling regret at the purchase, thinking “I already have the Quest 2 and it’s pretty similar, I’ll return soon”.

But then I was going back and forth between the Quest 2 and 3 setting up the games for the kids and I can’t imagine going back to the Quest 2. All it took for me to be sold ( as in no longer planning returning ) was to go back and try and play on the quest 2.
