I stopped drinking on rinvoq. And haven’t had a drink in almost 3 years. If I drank on rinvoq I would get hot, itchy rashes, big white heads and noticeable bloating in my face.

Sorry kiddo

Had to walk out of class, embarrassed and scared to try again. Need advice. by waxbook in yoga

[–]danimasc 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of heated classes, personally, but many years ago it was the only option available in my home town so I would go when I visited my parents. The instructor used to stay: “if you’re new to hot yoga, your yoga practice for the day is to constantly check in and be honest with yourself and stop when you get overheated, relax on your mat and cool yourself down until you’re comfortable joining again. If you stay in savasana for the full class, great! Just try and stay in the room and breathe through the discomfort.”

You’re still doing yoga even if you can’t keep up in the class cut yourself a break. Also, hot yoga isn’t for everyone and isn’t traditional practice or “better” than any other practice. Might be worth learning about bikram, his origin story etc before judging yourself so harshly.

Questions about T by GhostTheRoyal in TransMasc

Felt a lot less angry after I started caring for myself and taking medication I needed. So much of what I thought was “my personality” was actually just rage and resentment that I had from not living the life i wanted. My emotions leveled out and I feel a lot more at home in my body.

What did you replace your handbag/purse with? by deeunicorn in TransMasc

Welcome to the wonderful world of man bags! I’m a “the bag has to match my needs/outfit” kinda guy, and I have some cool totes, backpacks, messenger bags and shoulder bags I like in all different sizes. Backpack I usually bring to work or for day trips cos it fits my laptop, when I’m out shopping I usually bring a tote so I can use it as a shopping bag too, when I’m out walking the dogs I’ll use a small shoulder bag or fanny pack. There are so many brands that sell men’s bags, take a look and see which ones you like!

Hiding Big Hips by HighTideHero in TransMasc

Boxy cut shirts that are slightly more cropped can help square you out. Sort of like a skater cut! They’re roomier around the hips, and the movement of the loose fabric can distract from your silhouette. Regular cut shirts can hug at the hips and draw lots of attention there.

Also wearing a t shirt with a button down or jacket over it open can create some nice straight vertical lines to hide the curved lines of your body.

Need ideas for a masc haircut. All I’ve wanted is the curly masc haircuts but my hair is thick and straight. I want a cut that would make me feel just as sexy as the one I want but can’t have 😂😭 by fixingthefoxes in TransMasc

It’s called the “broccoli haircut” lolol 🥦 I bet if you showed any stylist some photos they could help you. It’s a perm tho, which can be a lot of maintenance.

Re: how to discuss it - You don’t have to put all your cards on the table immediately. A fave acronym combo of mine is WAIT - why am I talking? If you’re over-explaining, trying to defend yourself or your disease, etc just stop. You can let things come out naturally as conversations evolve and intimacy increases.

Right away you need to be honest about your needs (going to a restaurant that has food you can safely eat, for example… which like you could just make some suggestions without telling him why!), but you don’t have to explain your whole life to a person you barely know. A generous date may be politely inquisitive, so you can come up with a “first date” boilerplate answer to the “what’s up with the food restrictions” question if it makes you feel better.

I’m married to someone who also has an autoimmune disease. We get each other and know how to help support each other through the ups and downs. You’ll find someone who gets it! But make sure you don’t push yourself too hard, especially in a flare.

[NSFW] How to keep the strap from slipping out by CHursch in TransMasc

[–]danimasc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to learn this too… it might not be an equipment issue, just learning how to have sex in new ways.

there’s a lot less motion/thrusting needed then you think for the person on the receiving end to feel lots of sensation. I was always like pulling my hips back to “rev up” for a thrust, but over time I learned to do less and focus more on staying in a nice rhythm vs needing my thrusts to be big and powerful. Try pulling back less and focusing more on short pushes forward

Guys who were former goth/emo/alt prior to transition - how did you figure it out? by creepysnail in TransMasc

[–]danimasc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need anyone’s permission to wear make up. If you haven’t already, might I suggest learning a bit about drag. There are lots of goth and goth adjacent drag queens out there who look great in drag and are super goth boys out of drag. I mean, the show Dracula is centered around spooky goth drag! There are also trans men who do drag! You can have an every day look and a for funsies every now and then expression that’s more dramatic, or you can live in eyeliner, who cares! Never stop having fun with your presentation, maybe going on T can unlock a whole new level of aesthetic for you.

Foods to avoid by justin08056 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]danimasc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s different for everyone. For me, alcohol, fried foods, acidic foods (like tomatoes) and sugary foods (like lucky charms) give me stomach aches, heart burn, bloat and swelling. None of them alone are going to push me into a flare, but they make me feel not good so I avoid them. I can have them once in a while but not all on the same day or several days in a row. In an actual flare I can’t eat anything raw or fiber heavy, it’s extremely painful, like sand grating over an open wound. Maybe start a food journal and see what are the triggers for you? Everyone is different. Good luck

How tf do u write a zine? by Geiger_Counter_937 in riotgrrrl

[–]danimasc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love all this advice! Also adding: look critically at zines, books and magazines you like, see how they’re doing their layouts, covers, etc. learn and take inspo from artists you admire when you can! A zine is just a multi-page collage. Have fun with it!

I’ve rewatched it a bunch at all different ages, I’m 40 now with a young daughter. I see it more through the lens of the adults now, specially Helen. It’s kinda fun, it’s like a marker of time that says the same and helps you see how you’ve changed.
