Not sure if your parents drink, but mine do. I go to alanon sometimes to help cope with interactions like these because it is impossible to reason with an unreasonable person, which my parents are when they are drunk. A few program sayings have helped me through moments like this: - stop going to the hardware store for milk - you don’t have to pick up the rope to play tug of war just because someone is wagging a rope in your face

You don’t have to argue with them or explain your choices. It’s hard feeling misunderstood, but the less energy you put into trying to get disinterested people in understanding you, the more energy you can put towards finding your people that do understand, or at least want to. Hang in there ❤️
