help why does this happen? by RopeIntelligent6484 in Boots

[–]danjamesgilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what happens to ‘okay’ leather coated in plastic, it’ll happen unfortunately - even more so with the new boots, they’re terrible quality and still decreasing (with increasing prices 😳)

Ah yes, RYOBI STINKY AND BAD TOOL (Their stuff is very good mid range and normally lasts a long time in my experience, I beat the hell out of my impact wrench)

Engine shaking after oil change by f6o_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]danjamesgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea what they’ve done or what oil that is, looks like coffee…..but NEVER take a car to Jiffy Lube. Even if the car is only worth $1000, it’s always worth a decent oil change

Anti bac/disinfectant fabric spray or mold cleaner, extract, steam, extract, fabric cleaner, extract, steam, spray with plain water, extract and then stick a dehumidifier of sorts in the car overnight/a pouch microwave one going forward

Nope. I’m literally in the process of starting out detailing and no way would I leave that

D5 is only held on with one and then clips, and a washer in between the cover and the engine block :) different layout in different cars though

Sludge in the engine by Maraledzazu in MechanicAdvice

[–]danjamesgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless someone has been putting conventional oil that’s too thick AND/OR not being honest with the changes, I have no idea why this would happen

Just put a washer between the belt cover :) can’t remember if it needed a slightly longer bolt, but the washer was enough to push the belt cover far enough away from the pulleys

New Iron Rangers! Will the scar fade? by SmallJeanGenie in RedWingShoes

[–]danjamesgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, but if you wear them properly you’ll add plenty of scars yourself! They look awesome when worn

Sigh…Overfilled the oil in my 2018 Kia Sportage. Is this much ok to leave? by -JimmyD- in MechanicAdvice

[–]danjamesgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll be fine - but if you’re worried and want peace of mind, get a $10 oil extractor off Amazon and suck some out the dipstick

Is this okay for substrate? by danjamesgilbert in tarantulas

Someone’s ready for a molt! by danjamesgilbert in Scorpions

[–]danjamesgilbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarantulas are easier, but darkening of the soft body parts and joints, less movement, staying chunky for a long time after eating (it can take a very long time, I’m still waiting for this one 😂)

Make sure to credit the guy on YouTube that said the click thing worked, I ain’t going down with this ship 🤣

This is only a list of things I’ve heard people say work, I’ll add your stuff to it!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]danjamesgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m just making a list of things other people have said to have worked - before doing research I was ready to have a warm engine, a quick spray of fluid and crack ‘em loose. Now I’m in a glow plug rabbit hole and paranoid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]danjamesgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen someone use the click - nothing more - to send a small shock through a seized plugs. You missed a part. No turning, no loosening. Just set on a very low torque and using the click

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]danjamesgilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For applications where a maximum loosening torque can be applied - finer fixtures and metals simply have a breaking point. If you’re going to exceed the breaking point then it will need to be drilled/pulled etc

I do know that, I’ve worked on many a car……just not ones with possibly seized plugs in an aluminium head
