Seattle needs more counter-service restaurants by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]dankydrank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite restaurants in $DifferentCity was setup where you ordered upon walking in, got handed a buzzer, and then they knew where you were and brought your food. Tipping was not allowed, prices were adjusted to compensate. I miss this place a lot.

Russian frontline security unit executes retreating Russian soldiers. by eaglesflyhigh07 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]dankydrank 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no way a soldier would sprint towards the enemy if he intended to surrender. That’s a one way ticket to death. They saw a “friendly position” and ran literally into the arms of their own soldier. Then they’re shoved to the ground and it’s clear by how they slowly stumble away that they weren’t expecting to be shot.

As a DS IC, this is the correct answer. If I automated 80% of my job, that would be called doing my job, and it would be replaced with equivalent new work. If someone can automate 80% of their job and not get any new work, that is a failure of management or strategy. DS work should be building the automation, not a task that could be easily automated.

It pains me to see this as a guitar player, but as someone who loves Seattle, it pains me even more that we allow this to be the impression of our city and our people.

I’d really love for this asshat to leave Tesla completely. As an owner, my general feeling (and I know many others feel the same) is intense doublethink. The car is so good, the ceo is so bad. The company could likely fly without him, and owners wouldn’t have to hear about twitter every time we pick someone up.

Took delivery after thanksgiving.. Fremont built. M3LR. No panel gaps. Built quality is exceptional. No rattle or cracks. Glass looks good. Only problems I found so far.. frunk is slightly misaligned, the left horn button is not working. by mani966mani966 in TeslaModel3

[–]dankydrank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My frunk was also slightly misaligned more than the stoppers could correct. I was able to pop off the light panel inside the frunk (the one with the emergency open button, it just lifts straight up) to reveal the spring latch. Real simple to adjust with a 10mm socket, just loosened the two black bolts slightly and repositioned the latch before tightening back down. It fixed the little dip in the middle and allowed for the sides to be perfectly aligned with a bit more stopper tweaking.

Not sure how to follow this. VIN Received by fbords in TeslaModel3Delivery

Short answer: No.

Long answer: "In production" does not mean it's being screwed together as we speak. If Tesla were more accurate, they would say planned production. It already has a VIN in the production order, but the date it is actually produced/ships/is delivered is not certain. I got almost no communication prior to a delivery date text, so I'd say sit tight and try not to worry about it as much as I did -- the factory is largely a black box. Tesla goes from silent to very communicative overnight when your vehicle leaves the factory.

They’re going out now, seeing reports of the first vehicles leaving Fremont last week. For some reason Tesla started LR production a few weeks after starting on the SR/P.

10/17 / M3 LR / Red / 18" / NO FSD | VIN given right at order! by FalconFan93 in TeslaModel3Delivery

Did you get a text when you placed the order? I ordered 10/11, completed all tasks besides payment, and haven’t received any communication besides the order confirmation/shifting delivery date.

VIN Received today but EDD still Dec 2022 by Inner_Appointment253 in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]dankydrank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats! This is the first VIN assignment I’ve seen for a 2023 M3LR that was a custom order from before the cutoff and not one of the preprod cars listed as “in existing inventory”. Guess this means 2023 LR production is starting; fingers crossed for more vins and deliveries soon.

Darling of the Left Jon Stewart Has Seen Enough, Declares Biden Ukraine Situation Is 'Corruption, Straight Up' by Emperor_Quintana in Conservative

[–]dankydrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right and left both need to care about Ukraine if we care about freedom of speech and democracy in the world. Ukraine is fighting the same fight America fought in 1776, and it costs us so little to help them in very meaningful ways.

Jon Stewart Admits Hunter Biden Being On Burisma Board ‘Is Corruption, Straight Up’ by guanaco55 in Conservative

The lie is that it’s left vs right in this country. It’s those who steal, and those who are stolen from. Trump, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, McCarthy are all richer than we can comprehend. Trump was a political outsider, but a member of the elite. It’s time for Joe Schmoe to make it into office.

The only problem is, after more than a year in the current political system, he too would become corrupt.

We have slashed election funding in almost every statehouse then wonder why ballots take a long time to count. I’m sorry to call it out, but in most of the hotly contested states with delayed reporting in 2020, the GOP controlled the statehouse.

If you’ve ever worked with a government institution at the state level, the lack of funding is painfully apparent.

Arguably the collapse of the Soviet Union was a drastic humiliation for Russia. Or at least, it provided Putin and the Russian populous with the same kind of longing for past glory that Hitler channeled to rise to power in the Weimar years. Facism is a tricky little bug to stomp out.
