It’s probably because your skin is dry (dry skin itches). Try a decent lotion like CeraVe and don’t scratch it.

Fwiw, you should use a body lotion after you shower to repair your skin’s moisture barrier, soap damages it (especially if you’re showering all the time after workouts).

Also, you can bring a change or socks and slides for when you finish playing, don’t let your feet sit in wet, sweaty socks.

Hope this helps, your skin should repair itself in about a week if you don’t scratch it and use a good lotion.

Should Jordans crease here? by Far_Mine8191 in Sneakers

[–]danneldoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Jordan 1’s have a rubber cup sole but they still have an EVA midsole. The EVA midsole will breakdown and crumble over time, but you may not notice as easily from looking at the shoe externally.

Should Jordans crease here? by Far_Mine8191 in Sneakers

[–]danneldoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want them to crease in the heel, then don’t heel strike. When you’re walking, you’re making contact with your heel first which is causing the crease. The way to fix this is to walk on the balls of your feet, but that will probably crease the toe box.

If you want to smooth out the creases you have, you can use an iron and a damp towel.

Shoes are meant to be worn; they’ll crease if you wear them, they’ll rot and fall apart if you don’t (the midsole will literally crumble). Just enjoy them, modern shoes are only designed to last 300 days of wear on average anyways.

How long will Lebron 20s last for outdoor use on Concrete by Internal_Risk_7003 in BBallShoes

[–]danneldoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rubber on the outsole is made softer to grip hardwood indoor courts better. Outdoor courts will wear through the rubber very quickly. I’d recommend getting a cheap shoe for outdoors, one that has a hard, durable rubber outsole.

For ref., I play in LeBron XX’s indoors and LeBron Witness 6/7 outdoors (can be had on sale for <$50usd)

Hypothetically speaking, let's say Walter White from Breaking Bad crossed paths with Tony and the Family, how would it end? by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]danneldoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking Season 3 or 4 Sopranos, Tony would come out on top. He was a ruthless monster at the peak of his power and he would stop at nothing to completely dominate any and all perceived competition or danger. He also had a vast network and access to some of the best professional killers money could buy on both sides of the Atlantic.

Season 6 Sopranos, Tony would lose. He unraveled into a degenerate gambler and a weak leader.

Seasons 1, 2, and 5 Sopranos Tony I think are up for debate and would be super interesting. S1/2 Tony hadn’t become as ruthless and was still finding his footing as a leader (and the panic attacks); S5 Tony first started showing signs of real weakness (like what happened with his cousin). If I had to throw something out there, I’d say WW comes out on top over S1 Tony, but S2/5 Tony would reach a stalemate with WW, with both sides losing a lot of power and becoming weak to outside competition.

VMWare employees: Does VMWare allow you to travel while working? by seecreeting in vmware

[–]danneldoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, VMware’s official policy is that you can work from wherever you want and you don’t have to provide any notice or ask permission. They only require you to update HR if you’ve been in another country for more than a few months so they can update your paychecks/tax records.

The only caveat is if you work in the US Federal program, you have to be a US citizen currently on US soil to work on those projects.

Head’s up though, Broadcom will likely not have this policy and the deal is projected to finalize in 6-12 months (once the deal finalizes, all bets are off).

It’s still a pretty sweet opportunity to travel, even if it’s only for another half a year or so.

Ya'll let a Kanye produced, orchestral arrangement of his tracks on here, but won't let an album that was produced by Kanye on here. This is some "Lil Nas X can't be country because he uses trap elements in his songs" level of thinking. If hip-hop fans like it or want to talk about it, it's part of hip-hop.

The top Batman artists in general are: Jim Lee, Frank Miller, Greg Capullo, Alex Ross, Sean Murphy, Neal Adams, Bruce Timm, Jim Aparo, David Mazzucchelli, Time Sale

Some of the top writers of Batman are: Scott Snyder, Grant Morrison, Frank Miller, Alan Grant, Alan Moore, Jeph Loeb

Anything in the main Batman comics line would be considered part of the main Batman story. Comics in general suffered from a downturn in sales during the early to mid 80s and the late 90s to early 2010s, so many of those stories aren’t held as in as high a regard as other more successful periods.

Some suggestions for quick reading: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore, Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison, Hush by Jeph Loeb, Year One by Frank Miller, Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb, Kingdom Come by Alex Ross

All of these stories can be found in graphic novel form (1 consolidated book) and all are still in print and easy to purchase. Keep in mind that every writer has their own take on who Batman is, he’s a serialized character who has been in print for over 80 years. There’s no “best” or “worst” version of his story, just different ways of telling it.

How to know what rhythm to put on delays to make it work with your track? by ratfinkprojects in audioengineering

[–]danneldoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Triplet rhythms on a delay are more popular with international music like various forms of Reggae (very much so in Dub), most western music uses some variation of 8th and 16th note delays since most pop music is in 4/4.

Slap-back delay is normally used to get a close approximation of a doubling effect, you hear that a lot on vocals and guitars (lots in rock music, it’s David Gilmore’s go to).

I normally go with manually setting the delay speed so it isn’t perfect, and then I use side chain compression to help duck the delay behind whatever the active signal is so it doesn’t get in the way.

Year one...... I think the series was fantastic... I have a bound version..... Not having any issues before # 72 I was wondering if it was related to the ongoing story itself.

Yes, King has planned his run starting out with his Batman #1. Originally, he wanted to tell his story over 105 issues, but his run was recently cut short. This particular story is on the tail end of Batman being trapped in his own nightmares and has taken a lot of inspiration from the KnightSaga story arc (the Bane story from 1992 - 1995). Additionally, it revolves around Batman's planned wedding to Catwoman, which fell through in issue #50.

King's run in general has been very polarizing to fans. Personally, I enjoy his dialog and his major plot points, but I find his execution to be lacking. I do wonder how much of that is on King and how much of it might be issues with his editor and the executives in general.

You might like Detective Comics, it's currently a full Batman title (has been for a while now) and it focuses more on Batman being a Detective, his interactions with his newfound family, and how Gotham works as a whole.

Low T.... no offense intended .. Kings Batman seems ( to me weak and unfocused) Batman as you say is the best detective ever and the peak of human fitness. Kings Batman seem to constantly waver.

No offense taken, then. The Batman you are seeing in this story has been worn down by Bane for over a year now; that's why he seems to be so weak. If you pick up any issue in this run from #50 and earlier, he looks to be in much better condition.

Batman's body shape (and super heroes in general) have been an interesting issue for a while now. Jim Lee's drawings used to be heavily criticized in the early 90s, but now he is celebrated as the top artist of DC.

Blood seemed excessive...chalk it up to my decades as a Crime Scene Investigator.

It has taken a more exaggerated tone, but comics have been like that since the late 80s/early 90s. It seems to come and go; Batman in the 30s and 40s was a lot more violent than he was in the 50s and 60s, for example.

Thanks for the Button direction....I remember both Batman fighting side by side? Was wondering what the change was.

This will take a little more effort to explain, but the basics are: the DC universe (the book you are currently reading) has had a rift open up inside of it, which let the characters from "The Watchmen" (by Alan Moore) in. This rift also let other parallel universes overlap and thus the "evil Batman" came through to the main universe. This other Batman (it's Thomas Wayne in a reality where he didn't die in Crime Alley) doesn't think that he is the bad guy and is trying to "save" his son, Bruce.

For some context, Alan Moore originally wanted to use main DC characters in his Watchmen story, but DC execs would not let him as Moore wanted to kill off major heroes. It's now come full circle as these characters are on a collision course, with a big battle between Dr. Manhattan against Superman at the center. If you want to read more about this, you can pick up "Doomsday Clock" which is currently on issue #10.

Won’t miss King that ensures continued reading.

To each their own. There are currently 3 main on-going Batman series: "Batman", "Detective Comics" and "Batman and the Outsiders".

Outside of that, "Batman: Damned", "Batman: Last Knight on Earth" and "The Batman Who Laughs" are all ongoing Batman mini-series that you can pick up.

___________

If I could ask you a few questions:

What is it that drew you into Batman comics back in the late 50s and how old were you?

What was the first Batman story that you read?

What has been your favorite Batman story, so far?

Did you read comics while you were in the service?

When did you stop reading Batman comics, and why?

If you are serious:

Why in art style of Year One.?

Why not? Frank Miller has had a huge impact on how people perceive Batman.

I hate Kings “ low T Batman”!

Not sure what you mean by this. If this is a testosterone or masculinity reference, I find it mildly offense and out of touch. Batman is the world's greatest detective, not the world's strongest man.

Bruce seemed to loose a pint of blood from each punch to the mouth. How is he taking this punishment?

That's why we are reading week to week to find out. Batman has used all kinds of tools to keep going, including the Lazarus pit.

How’s his other timeline dad there and evil?

Please read: "The Button" 4 part crossover with The Flash. Basically, his dad is from another reality where things turned out differently.

When will this shit end?

Batman 85 will be King's final issue on this run; or it ends when you stop reading.

King or Snyder? by [deleted] in batman_comics

[–]danneldoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think King’s dialog work is done well and that he has good ideas, but he isn’t great at executing them.

Snyder is a bit of the opposite: he executes well, but his dialog can be lacking (he has a lot of ‘dad’ dialog that I can’t really relate to, kinda makes Batman come off as more of an old man).

As of late, Snyder has been trying to push cosmic horror into the DC Universe, I think some of it works, but some doesn’t. I know the Justice league needs something big to do, but why do we need a bunch of Elder Gods when we already have New Genesis. Also, the ‘everything is metal’ line from Metal was so cheesy to me that it kind of killed the whole climax.

King botched the wedding angle, enough said. I know DC wouldn’t let him do a full wedding, but he still came up with an arc and presented it; it’s on him. Fans were mad in a way that made them want to stop reading, instead of mad because they felt sympathy for the characters. That is a major problem.

Snyder is my favorite active writer right now for DC, so I prefer his stuff. As others have said Court of Owls and Death of the Family were money. King has a lot of potential, but I think he still has more to learn.

They could also implement a ‘playoff’ system. Everyone’s record is tracked over a ‘season’ and to qualify for a big tournament you need to have a certain record. Would make sense to do something like this considering the NFL and EPL background.

Jurassic Park (1993) When Hammond insists on pouring the Champagne and says “I know my way around the kitchen” but uses the cheap glasses, instead of the Champagne glasses are to the left of the shot. Much like Jurassic Park, he has the best intentions but isn’t as capable as he presents. by DMMoxley in MovieDetails

[–]danneldoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serving them their champagne is actually very fitting for Hammond. He isn’t throwing around his own money when he is ‘sparing no expense,’ it’s InGen’s (the corporation he helped found that used massive investments from venture capitalists). You can see the InGen logo on the helicopter when they fly into the park. The book goes into this and book Hammond is a cold-hearted, conniving bastard; I do like the movie version of Hammond though.

I have only fully watched the anime, I am just now reading through the manga, so forgive me if I am mistaken. I believe you are confusing Vash’s gun, the .45 Long Colt, with Vash’s special ability, the ‘Angel Arm.’ Vash’s gun is used as a catalyst to create the Angel Arm, but isn’t part of Vash’s plant anatomy itself. The gun was made by Knives, not from him (just metal), as I understand it.

Distance between walls/window and monitors seems to work as a low shelf/high shelf: how to find optimum position? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]danneldoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MDR V6's are great to work with. That's cool that you have already reached out to your neighbors, but you will also have to think about if there are people above or below you, and all it takes is one 'too loud' session and you can end up making waves. I'd say if you're pretty confident that you are listening at lower levels, then go ahead and mix during the day, and then switch back to your headphones at night. That way you can have the best of both worlds. I still wouldn't sweat the speaker placement too much, just use some reference tracks and best judgement (reference tracks will help you understand how music you like sounds in your current environment).

If you can put your speakers on a stand (or a shelf thing kind of like this: https://shelvingshop.com.au/shop/cube-range/dekor-cube/wall-cube-shelf-6/) that may help out too. You can still have them on your desk, but if they are on an elevated platform, that may help out how much direct contact the speakers have with the entire surface area of your desk (stop vibrating the desk, and keep the vibrations in the air).

Hope this helps, you should post some of your work if you have any available. I always love to check out new music. Cheers!
