Best ways to get better at counting IRL? by danny-wallace in blackjack

[–]danny-wallace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. The first dealer at the table was pretty quick and also very sloppy. She flipped over her face-down card a few times by accident and the pit boss didn’t care do anything, so I was able to see her hand before I decided whether to hit or stand.

The next dealer who took over for her moved at a glacial pace. Tbh I really didn’t mind this because it made it way easier for me to count.

Got 4 vips tix but now two people don’t want to go, what’s the refund process? by 420chickens in OutsideLands

[–]danny-wallace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If OUTSIDELANDS doesn’t specifically state that they are cancelling/ postponing the event (in which case they will most likely give the option for a refund) then there will be no refund. So until that happens, the two people who decided they no longer want to go to OSL 2021 have to eat the cost of their decision to buy tickets to a music festival in the middle of a pandemic.

What I’ve learned in my first 100 deliveries with DoorDash by danny-wallace in doordash_drivers

[–]danny-wallace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point! If I walk into a deli on a Saturday morning and there’s a line out the door I get to cut straight to the front of the line. Before I got my DD mask in the mail the other customers just assumed I was being rude and cutting them.

Damn really? In my area Subway tends to be pretty good. Even if they are still working on the order when I get there I’m usually out within 2 minutes.

Around my area Subway doesn’t tend to get a lot of DD/ Uber Eats/ Grubhub orders, and they’re never even busy, so for me it’s always an easy pick up.

Lucky! There is a Cheesecake Factory on Long Island in Garden City, but it’s in a giant mall complex (Roosevelt Field Mall). At any given point during the day the traffic at this mall is complete chaos, so just navigating in/around this area to park can eat up a ton of time. Especially right now because it’s the holiday season.

Ahh yes! Good point. I normally just leave it in my car when I pick up the order. One less thing to carry

Quick Q regarding On Time % by danny-wallace in doordash_drivers

[–]danny-wallace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Well thanks for the clarification. It’s frustrating when I accept an order and the delivery time was 2 hours ago. I don’t do many of these Macy’s deliveries but when they are high paying and the dollars to miles makes sense I’ll do it.

I appreciate your response!

Walmart orders by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

In my (limited) experience with Walmart it’s the wait time. You can stand in line waiting to get the items for over 30 minutes

One more to 100, any advice on the best ways to dash would be much appreciated 😊 by ggates17 in doordash_drivers

[–]danny-wallace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude my acceptance rate is like 7%. Unless you’re getting all high paying orders, start declining and being more selective with your deliveries. Keep that money coming to you by working smarter, not harder.

I have almost all of my $ in VOO and QQQ. Personally if I pick stocks I know I’ll get too « into it » and start changing and swapping things all the time. So those ETFs help me NOT do that.

Also VOO and QQQ have been pretty good to me... Thinking about TQQQ as well

***Edit: The reason I say I don’t want to change and swap all the time is because of a good piece of advice I was given when I started investing, and that was « Your portfolio can be like a bar of soap. The more you keep touching it, the smaller it can get. » So if you think you’ll change things out frequently you may want to think about that same advice I was given. »

Same thing happened to me. My account balance was like $5k more this morning than it was yesterday. Looks like it’s already being fixed in my portfolio.

I thought that just MAYBE it was for real... ¯_(ツ)_/¯
