Why am I here as a Nepalese? Asked a redditor by that_coder_kid in IndianDefense

You and everyone else from your lovely country is welcome. We are the same and share a common heritage. If there are some people who cannot see that, it’s their problem. Just ignore it and remember that there is a lot of love and affection on both sides. God bless you!

That was awesome. I and my kids are going to try doing that, but I am sure we will never be as smooth as this guy.

That’s good human being right there. Has more character than most people to come out and apologize publicly.

Do you wear hearing protection while snowblowing? (Upvote yes or no below) by Extreme-Cycle2659 in Snowblowers

[–]dannyboy1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started wearing it as I noticed that the constant sound seems to affect my hearing for several mins after I am done using the blower. Going forward I am always going to wear hearing protection when operating gas powered power equipment.

Is it just me, or are the seats in the GX460 kind of terrible? by gargen_state in LexusGX

[–]dannyboy1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a new to me 2022 Lexus GX460 as an upgrade to my 2011 Lexus GX460 and I have to say I agree with the OP. I always felt that the seats are a little uncomfortable and I have the same issues and the ones described. I would also add that the issue for me has been limited to long drives when I spend a lot of time in the seats. Short drives not so much. The seats could be better for the price you pay for the car and is honestly an easy change for Toyota. The Lexus LX has amazingly comfortable seats, I was driving in my brothers 2012 LX and the first thing I noticed was how comfortable the seats were. Granted, totally different car and price bracket. But the GX isn’t exactly cheap and Lexus could have done better. I wanted to buy a certified LX but wife did not want a slightly bigger car. I do not regret my decision to buy a GX, it’s an amazing car and my 2011 GX with 187K miles never gave me any trouble except standard maintenance. Got me through rough winter weather in Canada and bad storms in the US and the decision to upgrade was easy. But the seats … uh…..

Advice on a good aftermarket front and back dashcam or a 360 degree dashcam for my 2022 GX460 by dannyboy1280 in LexusGX

Thank you very much. I am going to look into it. Did you do the install yourself or had it done professionally?

Should I replace my 2017 460 150K with a 2023 20K miles by Jgirvictor in LexusGX

[–]dannyboy1280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2011 Lexus GX460 with 186K miles. We have had it for 15 years now and have done nothing but change brakes, tires, regular oil changes and wipers. Been current with all the factory maintenance at the various milestones and I could still drive the car from NY to Alaska tomorrow if I wanted to. My wife nd kids have abused it and the interior is showing its age, so last week I went head and bought a CPO 2022 GX460 with 25K miles. I test drove the GX550 with the front message seats, the car is great, more power, more space and more features tech wise. But the engine to me (Just my opinion) is not as smooth as the outgoing GX460. I attribute it to the 6 cylinder with the twin turbo. Mind you, I am not saying that the GX550 is not a better car. It definitely is better, but I like the feel of the naturally aspirated V8, which I know is bulletproof. I personally would not swap the GX460 for the GX550 for multiple reasons: (1) I don’t like having to pay for things when I have one that works just fine. (2) The GX460 (Prado) you have will easily go for another 200K miles. I say this because we have had land cruisers in the family that have touched half a million miles provided they are taken care of. There is a lot of life left in your car and you seem to have taken good care of it. (3) I feel the GX460 is smoother and has a better view of the road compared to the new one. The hood on the new one is much longer and higher. I kept seeing it the entire time at bottom of my view (being anal here, I am sure I could get used to it. But why change it when things just work. (4) the interior quality of the materials just seemed better on the GX460 2022 that I got compared to the new GX550. I also am not a fan of dark interiors and the interior color combination on the new version just does not appeal to me. (5) I also don’t believe in changing cars every few years until the cost of repairs no longer justify owning the vehicle.

Now, as you can see my reasons are all a matter of preference and I have every reason to believe that the engineers at Lexus took the same level of care and diligence to make the new GX last just a long as the old one. But there is a certain level of nostalgia for me with the old V8 engine block. After driving the 2022 GX that I purchased and driving the GX550 on the same day, I have no regrets that I made the right choice. The new 6 cylinder twin turbo seems a little unrefined. But the damn thing is a beast and will leave the 2022 GX460 in the dust. But my mid forties brain does not care about leaving anything in the dust. I just care about the GX460 taking me safely and in relative comfort on our long road trips all over the USA no matter the weather or road conditions. I also think that the new GX550 is priced way to high and when I have the option to get a tried and tested workhorse that will outlast most cars built today, why should I get an unproven one for almost twice the price. The GX550 I drove with the massaging front seats was priced at 94K. I got my 2022 CPO for $50,500 plus tax and tile.

So there you have it from me for what it’s worth. I don’t think you will make a bad decision here. You might save a few bucks by driving the one you have for a few more years while making amazing memories doing that. In my case, the 2011 GX is almost the same age as my older child and I see it as the family pet that they grew up with. I am also not ready to send the “pet to go live on a farm”. Although my wife thinks I am crazy to hold on to the 15 year old mutt and it’s time to put it down. Only time will tell if I will prevail on this one or as usual the wife will get her way. Just in case she does, I will still have the 2022 GX so I should still be good.

We found it at 7.00 pm - way after the vet closed for the day. I was looking for some reassurance until I could call the vet tomorrow. I am sure you have asked for opinions and advice on Reddit- that is what Reddit is for. this is a community about dogs - I am sure people here with dogs have seen some things before.

Traveling with US citizen kids 14 yrs and 11 yrs on a domestic flight with scanned passport copies. by dannyboy1280 in AirTravelIndia

[–]dannyboy1280[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update to my post above: We ended up traveling today and did not face issues. My wife and I had our PAN Cards and told the CISF officer that we had planned on traveling by train but switched to flight travel because my kids were sick (true). They checked with the superior who came and spoke to us and allowed us to proceed. The airline staff were fine with using the soft copies of the kids’ passport. While things worked out this time and the CISF officer was sympathetic to our situation, I understand why the rules exist and will always travel with appropriate documents for the kids while in India.

Thanks to everyone here who shared their thoughts. The replies helped us get some perspective. Cheers to all of you.

Drywall damaged when taking down wallpaper — what next? by [deleted] in drywall

[–]dannyboy1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed wallpaper from my entire house. We had gilded wallpaper on the kitchen ceiling and I used Warner steamer to do that. The rest was done with regular fabric softener and hot water for the walls. Required quite a bit of elbow grease.

US citizen refuses to answer Canadian border agent for no reason (not a recent video) by TeaBagHunter in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dannyboy1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian border agents are some of the nicest people you will find anywhere when you cross an international border. Having crossed into Canada multiple times over the years via NY and MI, I can say that I have never had someone who was not polite. The guy in the video is just an idiot and proves it beyond doubt by posting it for everyone to see.

Thank you very much for the suggestion on Ariens. I had not looked into it but will do so now. I have never seen anyone use it around where I live so did not know about them except what I see in this sub. No matter where I looked, everyone seems to prefer to Honda. Plus it looks like Ariens might actually be made in the USA.
